The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization.

The University Relations team is seeking an intern to play a pivotal role in supporting the American Heart Association's nationwide paid internship program. This dynamic opportunity involves working closely with our team to expand the program's reach through outreach to universities. Additionally, the intern will gain valuable exposure to the realm of Human Resources by actively contributing to recruitment initiatives and engaging in learning and development programming. This multifaceted role offers a chance to make a meaningful impact while honing essential skills for a well-rounded professional journey.

Internship Overview:

  • Time Commitment: 20-25 hours per week
  • Remote Position
  • Salary: $23.00 per hour
  • Internship Duration: 9/11/2023 – 12/8/2023

  • Gain experience in the professional world while learning about board management.
  • Gain important and practical job skills to be successful in a non-profit environment.
Responsibilities:

Tasks could include things like the following:

  • Contributing to the implementation of a comprehensive professional development program, enriching the internship experience, and fostering growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal communications and other HR partners to drive internal communication and recognition of association interns and the program.
  • Assisting with the recruitment of interns by working with our partner platforms like WayUp and Handshake.
  • Assisting in the analysis and reporting of the internship program's performance and effectiveness.
  • Partner on designing social media graphics, flyers for internal and external use, and recruitment marketing in support of the program.
  • Conducting comprehensive research on Colleges and Universities, and actively engaging in outreach efforts to promote our internship program's expansion.
Qualifications:
  • Basic knowledge of Canva.
  • Ability to deal professionally in a corporate or non-profit environment and assume responsibility for guiding projects and programs from inception through completion.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.
  • Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and comfort with working with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
  • Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30 am-5 pm.
  • Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection
  • Effective oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Pursuing a degree in degree in Human Resources, Project Management, Communications, Psychology, Sociology, Nonprofit Management, and Business.
  • Intermediate to excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.
