Job Description
About The Organization

ECMC Foundation is a Los Angeles-based, nationally focused foundation with a mission to improve higher education for career success among underserved populations through evidence-based innovation. It is one of several affiliates under the ECMC Group enterprise based in Minneapolis. ECMC Foundation makes investments across three strategic priorities removing barriers to postsecondary completion; building the capacity of institutions, organizations, and systems; and transforming the postsecondary ecosystem; and uses a spectrum of funding structures, including strategic grantmaking and program-related investments, to invest in both nonprofit and for-profit ventures. Working with grantees, partners and peers, ECMC Foundation's vision is for all learners to unlock their fullest potential.

By partnering with grantees, third-party learning partners, and Foundation staff, the individual in this role will have opportunities to turn data into compelling stories, articulating the value of our grantees' efforts, the impact on the Foundation's overarching goals, and the learnings for the postsecondary and philanthropic fields.

  • Design, scope, retain, and manage third-party evaluations with the grants and investment team
  • Support internal organizational evaluation needs (e.g., collecting input from staff via surveys, etc.)
  • Conduct and/or oversee third-party learning partners to carry out literature reviews, field scans, and assessments of existing funded projects; articulate the Foundation's goal and theory of action in supporting a body of work; design and execute initiative-level evaluations that are centered in equity and focused on systemic change; facilitate conversations with the grant and investment making team to use evaluation findings to shape initiatives' future directions; and present evaluation findings and implications orally and in writing to both internal and external audiences
  • Develop initiative-level performance measures and make suggestions to improve the type of information we collect from applicants, grantees, and investees
  • Plan, organize, and facilitate learning sessions for the Foundation team
  • Work in partnership with the grants management team to make refinements to our grants management system
  • Stay abreast of and contribute to effective learning, performance measurement, and evaluation practices in the broader philanthropic and postsecondary fields
  • Collaborate with the grant and investment making team on initiative development, execution, and assessment
