About Dress For Success Worldwide


Dress for Success® is an international nonprofit organization that empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire, and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. Since its inception in 1997, Dress for Success has served over 1.3 million women from diverse backgrounds around the world.


Globally, the barriers to economic independence that women encounter are complex and systemic, including lack of access to opportunity, education, childcare, transportation, and more. Dress for Success responds to these challenges by providing workforce development programs for unemployed and underemployed women that are customized to meet the needs of each local community. Key offerings include career coaching and readiness; upskilling and reskilling; networking and community; and styling and professional attire.


Through its offerings, Dress for Success is focused on the achievement of four key goals:


  • Improving the financial acumen and economic stability of women; and
  • Helping women secure meaningful employment with a liveable wage;
  • Expanding awareness of the issues that impact the women they serve. The work of the organization is conducted through a global network of 140+ licensed affiliates. These affiliates, which represent local communities in 24 countries, are financially, legally, and operationally independent nonprofit organizations but share Dress for Success' mission and goals. Each has its own board of directors, its own volunteer and staffing model, and implements programming to meet the specific needs of the community served.
  • Providing a network of support to help women sustain employment;


Dress for Success Worldwide ("Worldwide") serves as the managing organization for the Dress for Success brand and its global network of affiliates. Worldwide's work includes supporting the affiliate network as well as developing and managing partnerships, campaigns, and program offerings that are global, national, and/or which impact multiple identified markets. In addition to this centralized role, Worldwide currently provides direct services to clients in New York City and Chicago, with plans for these locations to spin off as independent affiliates over the next 1-2 years.


With a new CEO, sharpened mission and vision, and recently launched strategic plan, Dress for Success is poised for transformational change, innovation, and growth.


About The Position


Dress for Success Worldwide is seeking an experienced Chief Affiliate Impact Officer (CAIO) to lead Worldwide's support to, services for, and development of the licensed global affiliate network. The CAIO will drive the transformation of the entire affiliate support and engagement process.


This newly established role will be instrumental in transitioning the Worldwide entity to its future state as a capacity-builder of strong and impactful local affiliates around the world. The CAIO will immediately assume responsibility for the combined affiliate relations and programs teams, providing the leadership and management to realize key pillars of the new strategic plan.


This individual will be a member of the Executive Leadership Team and will routinely engage with the leaders of Dress for Success' global affiliate network, Worldwide board members, corporate partners, and other key stakeholder groups. The ideal candidate is a visionary, a strategist, and an implementor, able to partner with many diverse constituents and inspire others to take Dress for Success to new heights.


Key Responsibilities


The Dress for Success strategic planning process identified the global affiliate network as the single most influential driver of future organizational impact. To optimize this lever, Worldwide has redefined its role to focus primarily on affiliate capacity-building and support. This necessitates a substantial internal realignment of personnel and resources over the next 3-5 years to design, build, and manage a robust, matrixed affiliate services function.


The CAIO will lead this initiative, bringing deep executive leadership skills and relevant experience to transform the Worldwide organization from service provider to impact driver. This new function will address:
  • Management of and accountability for global and national programs and partnerships where they include affiliate engagement
  • Delivery of multi-faceted resource systems and structures that are representative of the global Dress for
  • Lifespan support of affiliates from startup to maturity
  • Capacity building and training on affiliate organizational efficacy, accountability, and impact
  • Measurement and optimization of impact
  • Worldwide's value proposition to and relationship with affiliates, including assessment of existing structure, scale, and licensing model
  • Success brand while ensuring local adaptability and relevance The CAIO oversees all activities related to the oversight, engagement, governance, and capacity-building support of Dress for Success affiliates. To do so, the selected candidate will conceptualize, build, and lead a brand-new team structure that will include the existing programs and affiliate relations teams. The new team will drive long-term sustainable success for Worldwide in its support of the affiliates as well as for the affiliates themselves. This leader will also be accountable for the successful execution of core elements of the organization's new strategic plan.
  • Inter-affiliate collaboration, sharing of best practices, and mentoring


In addition to overseeing a team of employees at Worldwide, this leader will chair the Affiliate Advisory Council and oversee the regular convenings of the Affiliates Regional Roundtable groups, which provide affiliates with space and a place to connect with each other, share best practices, and provide input to Worldwide on optimal ways that it can support the affiliate network.


Other key responsibilities include:
  • A proven track record in effective global program development and continuous improvement processes to enhance outcomes and impact
  • Organized and adaptable individual who can move fluidly between managing the work and doing the work as part of a small team.
  • Envision and build a scaled training and capacity-building strategy to upskill affiliates and maximize their efficacy.
  • Partner with CEO, board, and senior staff to develop and manage strategic and innovative global relationships.
  • A combination of corporate and nonprofit experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree; Master's degree preferred. Compensation: The salary range for this position is $175,000- $225,000. Final offers for the role will be based upon several factors including the position requirements, candidate's experience level, and capabilities.
  • Leverage best-in-class technology to advance operational transformation.
  • Proven experience leading through change management, strategy implementation, and organizational restructuring.
  • Assess, develop, and execute a talent strategy to drive the affiliate services transformation.
  • Serve as a lead consultant for regions and affiliates in program implementation.
  • Demonstrated success in inspiring and leading teams and driving results; excellence in collaborative relationship and team building across the organization and externally
  • Design an operational strategy to transform affiliate support and engagement and build affiliate capacity, including a global structure and region-specific resources to meet the needs of all 140+ Dress for Success affiliates.
  • Other related duties and special projects as assigned. Key Qualifications
  • Develop a centralized mechanism to identify, assess, replicate, and implement ideas that optimize programs and services at the affiliate level.
  • Facilitate inter-affiliate collaboration and enhance affiliate engagement with Worldwide.
  • Establish relationships with external vendors and supports to make best-in-class resources available to affiliates.
  • Operational expertise in an affiliated nonprofit environment and/or progressive leadership experience at a national or global organization with structures that support local chapters or regions.
  • Serve as an active member of the management team, demonstrating leadership in organizational planning, decision-making, and building a culture of innovation.
  • Creative thinker able to conceptualize unique opportunities to enhance international awareness and visibility of Dress for Success, its position, and key initiatives as relevant.
  • Establish metrics and analyze data to assess and enhance affiliate performance and impact.
  • Exceptional relationship manager who is comfortable networking and fostering partnerships with affiliates and other stakeholders, as well as leading with influence.
  • Experience managing and leading remote and hybrid teams dispersed globally.


The position requires proximity to New York City and requires up to 25% travel domestically and internationally.
