Reporting to the Director. Learning & Development, the Manager of Learning & Development will have accountability for building and executing leadership and professional development for the organization The successful candidate will be responsible for developing best-in-class learning programs that enable retention, attraction, and development of top talent. They will understand the impact of learning and development on business strategy, executing and growth. The Manager Learning and Development will own building learning and development strategies and programs from the ground-up as well as end-to-end leadership development by leveraging the Boyd Leadership Framework as the foundation for all programs.


The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in learning & development, be highly organized and possess attention to detail and a strong sense of urgency, have exceptional facilitation skills, and the proven ability to build relationships and foster teamwork. Must be able to manage multiple projects/initiatives simultaneously and efficiently and have experience managing a Learning Management System (LMS). This role will supervise the Learning & Development Coordinator.


This Position is a Hybrid Position and will require 1-2 In Office Days per week at our Corporate Office in Elmhurst, IL.


Job Responsibilities


  • Assess educational needs by consulting with company leaders and employees to identify needs, skill gaps, and define initiatives
  • Design, develop and standardize training curriculum identifying the internal customer, creating objectives and activities, and developing documentation to coordinate the activities enterprise wide.
  • Develop business case justifications, cost/benefit analyses and budget for learning and development initiatives.
  • Where appropriate, identify, select and develop partnerships with vendors to supplement internal training capabilities
  • Responsible for overall management of the Learning Management System (Workday) including oversight of LMS administration, driving increases in training utilization, and providing user support.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in learning and development, consulting with business leaders on effective training strategies and promoting awareness of existing programs
  • Lead development and delivery of front-line and mid-level leadership development programs
  • Measure and evaluate the effectiveness and ROI of all training programs whether developed in house or via vendor.
  • Support the execution of the company’s learning and development strategy in partnership with stakeholders including business leaders and Human Resources partners.
  • Maintain current knowledge of emerging trends and technology in the learning & development space.
  • Monitor training costs and forecast future training needs.


Qualifications & Experience


  • Self-starter, ability to quickly organize materials, prioritize and coordinate tasks.
  • Experience and understanding required working with several different software / eLearning / LMS platforms & learning vehicles.
  • Demonstrated project and time management capabilities, ability to manage multiple projects, and flexibility to change with the needs of the business.
  • Must have excellent organization and time management skills; must be detail-oriented to ensure accuracy and quality of deliverables.
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills, with an ability to express complex concepts in business terms.
  • 3 years supervisory experience
  • Experience executing solutions for a multi-site workforce preferred.
  • Workday experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, interpersonal, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • 10+ years of experience in adult learning and training including content design and delivery.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite (Mail, Calendar, Sheets, Documents, Presentation, etc.) preferred.
  • Proven knowledge of adult learning concepts, training and development theories and techniques, and organization development, including ability to complete a full learning cycle (assessment, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate).
  • Ability to engage with team members at all levels of an organization, from shop staff to senior leadership.
  • Sound judgment, strong principles, and the ability to exercise tact, discretion, and diplomacy.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Education, Organizational Psychology, Organizational Development, or related field. Master Degree preferred
  • Position may require up to 25% travel.
  • Solid business acumen, develop business case justifications, cost/benefit analyses and budget for learning and development initiatives
