We are currently seeking a Lead Payroll Administrator who will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payrolls. The ideal candidate will supervise a team of 1 or 2 Payroll Practitioners or Assistants while actively engaging in payroll processing tasks.
Responsibilities
Supervise and lead a team of Payroll Practitioners or Assistants, serving as a "working supervisor" with a focus on hands-on payroll processing and related activities, accounting transactions, and document preparation.
Monitor and ensure timely submission and approval of timesheets.
Handle activities related to employee terminations.
Perform full-cycle timesheet processing, including review, correction, and postings for labor, leave, and special pay.
Collaborate closely with management, employees, and other departments to resolve timesheet issues.
Participate in staff and department meetings.
Work alongside the Payroll Administrator to ensure the accuracy and completeness of labor data for payroll submission.
Assist in maintaining and updating functional area policies and procedures.
Conduct labor and leave account accruals and reconciliations.
Provide support for internal and external audit requests.
Engage in special projects and Costpoint system integrations.
Monitor and respond to inquiries in the Admin Time & Expense mailbox.
Process bi-weekly leave accruals.
Offer assistance with payroll-related tasks as needed.
Perform any other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills
Possess a strong working knowledge of GAAP, FAR, and compliance within highly regulated environments.
Advanced experience in Deltek Costpoint, including proficiency in Cognos and T&E modules.
Experience working with DCAA and DCMA, including audit support.
Exceptional attention to detail with a focus on analytical skills.
Strong oral and written communication abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
3-5 years of accounting experience in a government contracting environment.
Previous Experience With Costpoint Is Essential.
Capable of effectively meeting deadlines and prioritizing work assignments for efficiency.
Desired Skills
Knowledge of timekeeping is required, with familiarity with Government timekeeping requirements being highly desirable.
Bachelor's Degree preferred. Candidates with a BS in Accounting will receive preference, but degrees in Finance and other Business Administration fields will also be considered.
CPP designation is preferred.
US Citizenship is required for work on some DoD contracts.
