As a Research Assistant, you will be the driving force behind mapping, monitoring, and tackling land use/cover changes across diverse spatial scales. Your expertise in remote sensing and data analysis will shine as you handle large datasets and employ cutting-edge tools like Python, Matlab, and remote sensing software. You'll play a pivotal role in shaping our understanding of global changes and contribute to the creation of insightful science reports and deliverables.
Responsibilities
Employ your remote sensing prowess to analyze urban, agriculture, forestry, and vegetation fire data.
Harness your programming skills to process and classify data using machine and deep learning algorithms.
Utilize your experience with various data resolutions (MODIS, Landsat, Sentinel-2) to reveal meaningful insights.
Work with Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data, particularly in agriculture, forestry, or urban domains.
Master Remote Sensing and GIS software to uncover hidden patterns and trends.
Employ statistical data analysis tools, including R, to extract valuable insights.
Leverage Google Earth Engine for groundbreaking remote sensing studies.
Contribute your expertise to international projects, leaving your mark on global research efforts.
Independently analyze data, demonstrating your organizational prowess and autonomy.
Craft compelling science proposals, reports, and papers, showcasing your communication skills.
Qualifications
A Master's degree in Remote Sensing, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Sciences, Environmental Science, Ecology, Geography, or related fields.
Proven experience in remote sensing research or applications development.
Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, IDL, or similar programming languages.
Familiarity with image classification using machine and deep learning techniques.
Experience handling diverse datasets, from coarse-resolution to very high-resolution data.
Knowledge of SAR data analysis in agriculture, forestry, or urban contexts is a plus.
Expertise in Remote Sensing and GIS software (ERDAS, ENVI, QGIS, ArcGIS, etc.).
Skilled in statistical data analysis, particularly using R.
Enthusiasm for utilizing Google Earth Engine to unlock remote sensing insights.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and contribute to international projects.
Strong communication skills, evident in your science proposals, reports, and papers.
