Job description
We are recruiting a Junior Design Engineer who will join the Design Team.
Your focus will be to deliver designs for both bespoke solutions and development of standard products. You will be exposed to the latest CAD and FEA packages. You will be expected to gain first-hand knowledge of extensive manufacturing and assembly processes and apply that knowledge and learning into your designs.
The right candidate must be forward thinking and be prepared to take the initiative. In this role you need to be prepared to challenge all fixed ideas and to find a better way.

Key Responsibilities
Be part of the project team and support the design activity, ensuring that designs are completed to company standards and are delivered within agreed timescales.
Learn and apply appropriate analytical techniques (FEA / Hand calculations) to ensure that the product meets the design specification.
Develop internal working relationships with senior colleagues, manufacturing, purchasing, and marketing personnel as appropriate.
Support and contribute to design reviews with manufacturing and purchasing teams to ensure products are manufactured and assembled with minimal impact on lead time and cost.
Rapidly become a valued contributor to the team with increasing participation and involvement wider company projects and initiatives.
To assist and shadow senior members of the design team and to progressively take on broader responsibilities.
To accumulate specific product knowledge and sector feedback leading to internal recognition as ‘go to’ person for that product.
Essential Skills / Experience
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar subject with strong design and analytical related elements.
Familiar with CAD systems (preferably Solid works)
Desirable Skills / Experience
Previous 3D CAD modelling and detail droughting experience (preferably Solid works or similar).
Design for manufacture experience or understanding.
Personal Characteristics

Good interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate clearly across the organization at all levels.

Salary: $45,000 - $60,000
