Job Description

Greystone Servicing is an active investor and currently owns and manages $308MM of CMBS bond positions. Greystone Servicing is the named special servicer on approximately $24B of CMBS, CLO, and Agency securitized products with currently approximately $1.1B in active special servicing. The special servicing division is responsible for credit risk related to its bond portfolio for which it is the named special servicer, including portfolio management and bond reconciliation functions. Greystone also conducts due diligence underwriting of new issuance CMBS and Agency bond portfolios and is responsible for asset management related to specially serviced loans including managing the appropriate workout and timely resolution of defaulted assets. We are looking for an associate to be exposed to and trained in, all aspects of the special servicing division, including credit risk, asset management, and due diligence.

We are seeking a Junior Asset Manager to join our Special Servicing/ Loan Asset Management team in our Irving, Texas office. The Junior Asset Manager will be responsible for an assigned portfolio of distressed commercial real estate mortgage loans. The Junior Asset Manager must be able to work semi-autonomously and display an understanding of loan servicing agreements.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Engage and interact with third-party consultants including attorneys, receivers, management, companies, appraisers, environmental engineer, structural engineers, and surveyors.
  • Responsible for the due diligence and underwriting of loans and collateral securing potential B-piece acquisitions.
  • Provide proactive asset management and timely resolutions of an assigned portfolio of distressed commercial real estate mortgage loans.
  • Participation in special projects and travel are required.
  • Use negotiation and analytical skills to comprehend complex loan documents, partnership documents, and evaluation of collateral performance and resolution alternatives.
  • Work with a portfolio of small to moderately-sized loans.

Experience, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Sound knowledge of foreclosure and bankruptcy laws.
  • Experience in managing commercial real estate loans secured by various income-producing property types such as multifamily, retail, office, industrial, and hospitality properties.
  • Four (4) year college degree from an accredited university in business, finance, accounting, real estate, or law is required.
  • Have a thorough understanding of and compliance with the governing loan documents, loan servicing agreements, REMIC regulations, investor reporting requirements, and state and federal laws governing foreclosures, receivership actions, and bankruptcies.
  • Five (5) years of experience in commercial real estate loan resolutions. Understanding of complex loan and loan servicing agreements.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, communication (written and verbal), financial and computer skills.
