The Fleet Asset Program Manager supports our Purpose by communicating, executing, and ensuring alignment on the strategic plans for our aircraft fleet and engine fleet. This role also drives long term fleet planning as well as participates in engine acquisitions. The Fleet Asset Program Manager is a strategic thinker and strong people Leader who is excited about the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across all workgroups at Southwest Airlines.

This role is a hybrid position based out of our Corporate Campus in Dallas, TX, which requires Employees to work onsite on our Corporate Campus at least three days a week. Job Summary
- Supports the development and analysis of long term fleet asset management strategies for the Company’s aircraft and engines. Partners across Southwest functions to develop detailed aircraft and engine acquisition and divestiture plans. Enables ongoing aircraft and engine negotiations through analytic investigation, reporting, and thought leadership. Coordinates aircraft delivery and retirement plans with internal Customers. Gathers and synthesizes industry intelligence for Leaders.
Responsibilities
- Track near term fleet and engine portfolio and align to 2-3 year Commercial and Operational demands
- Track and report on key fleet metrics and value capture progress and present findings and recommendations to Senior Leaders
- Support the development and execution of aircraft and engine strategy projects
- Identify and justify transaction and negotiation alternatives to help maximize negotiated outcomes and value capture
- Build and maintain the database (“one source of truth”) for consolidated aircraft and engine transaction and valuation decisions
- Track long range asset management portfolio forecasts to include engine, aircraft and Unserviceable Inventory Management (USM) programs, including site visits, verification of inventory accounting/reports and resolution of Commercial issues
- May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
- Partner with FP&A, Tech Ops, Supply Chain and other key stakeholders to develop and execute integrated engine and fleet negotiation and relationship management plans
- Support the development and refinement of a comprehensive aircraft and engine asset portfolio
- Track and analyze internal data on aircraft/engine performance to create forecasts and dashboards to support tail-by-tail decisions fleet transaction decisions
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to be decisive and action oriented
- Skilled in managing ambiguity
- Skilled in running large, complex financial models in Excel and other analytical tools
- Ability to multi-task and work with shifting priorities
- Ability to manage projects and follow-up through completion
- Ability to use benchmarks and measures to track performance
- Ability to respect and embrace diverse points of view, including integrating different perspectives and ideas
- Preferred: Financial experience
- Preferred: Experience with SQL, Alteryx, Tableau, and Excel modeling
- Preferred: Experience with aircraft, engines, and maintenance
- Ability to partner with key internal stakeholders to build consensus and foster teamwork
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
- Asset management or portfolio management
- Partnering in cross functional projects
- Executing complex financial analysis projects
- Advanced level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in:
Licensing/Certification
- N/A
Physical Abilities
- Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
- Ability to perform work duties from limited space workstation/desk/office area for extended periods of time
- Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
- Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
- Must be able to travel up to 20%, domestically and internationally, including multi-day / overnight stays
- Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary, and sensitive Company information
- Must have the flexibility to work extended hours, including weekends, and Company holidays
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
Pay & Benefits:
Competitive market salary from $107,650 to $119,600 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
