The primary responsibilities of the IT Support Specialist are to provide software, hardware, and network maintenance assistance to senior IT staff, as well as 2nd-tier support for end users. This role plays a critical part in training others in proper technical use and functionality. Other functions include installing, maintaining, and supporting the company's computer systems, LANs, WANs, Internet and intranet systems and network segments. Relies on experience and judgment as well as pre-established procedures and instructions to identify, research and resolve technical problems. This role requires a self-starter, always eager to continue learning and sharing knowledge with others.
Day to Day Job Duties:
- Troubleshoot problems reported by users.
- Make recommendations for future upgrades.
- Analyze and isolate issues.
- Maintain integrity of the network, server deployments, and security policies.
- Administer servers, desktop computers, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, phones, smartphones, software deployment, security updates and patches.
- Administer cloud configurations of end-user devices and applications (Microsoft 365, Intune, etc.).
- Support LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet, and intranet systems.
- Provide 2nd-tier support to company users.
- Mentor junior IT team members with proper IT procedures and support knowledge.
- Create and maintain documentation for all processes and procedures performed.
- May be required to participate in rotating on-call schedule.
- Other tasks as assigned by senior IT team members.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Experience with troubleshooting and maintaining Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems. (3 years)
- Experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2012 and above. (1 year)
- Strong problem-solving skills – able to track issues through resolution.
- Able to communicate effectively with others in person and through telephone and email.
Additional Skills:
- Knowledge of network wiring and networking concepts is a plus.
- Experience with Active Directory, DNS and network services are a plus.
- Experience with server virtualization (VMware / Hyper-V / Cloud) is a plus.
