To provide consultation and technical support to management and staff in resolving problems with computer systems, services, and equipment; perform related work.


This position is located on the Meridian campus of Idaho State University. The successful candidate will provide end-user and system support, both deskside and remote, as part of the ISU Help Desk Support team. This position will support the operations of a wide range of applications, systems, and end-user devices. This position will assist all supported state agencies. The selected individual will be based at our Meridian, Idaho, campus.


The selected individual must possess an in-depth knowledge of troubleshooting and analysis tools, Microsoft workstation and desktop applications, as well as experience providing Apple Support. The selected individual will also have strong customer service skills, and able to work with and communicate with non-technical staff as needed.


Example of Duties


Monitors problem/change activities; coordinates interactions between technical staff and end-users to respond to requests; provides training to users on hardware and software applications. Troubleshoots and maintains data servers, user devices, and communication tools; performs testing activities. May work as part of a team or independently with supervision.


Installs and maintains hardware and software products; configures user and network equipment according to department standards; installs, configures, and tests application software packages; assists in defining system standards and procedures; installs network infrastructure equipment hardware; identifies, evaluates, and corrects hardware, software, or operations problems; monitors and troubleshoots network system performance and networking problems; makes recommendations for future hardware and software additions or enhancements.


The Successful Candidate Will Be Responsible For The Following


  • Configure, troubleshoot, build, design, and deploy end-user software applications and device hardware;
  • Identify, evaluate, and correct hardware, software, and operations problems;
  • Oversee and perform system administration and technical support for user devices, servers, hardware and software, and networks.
  • Individually install and maintain hardware and software products and configures computers and network equipment according to standards;
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Follow up with customers on issue resolution; provide daily interaction, both in person, via the phone or via electronic messaging with customers in the management of user reported issues;
  • Provide direct end-user support for a wide range of technologies, including Microsoft and Apple, user devices, telephone and conferencing devices and equipment, software applications and supporting systems;
  • Provide technical support and training to users and technical staff;
  • Serve as IT consultant and adviser to department staff and management on system needs, operation and telecommunications problems, and requests for services.
  • Assist in Clinics, Labs, as well as with Networking and Main Campus teams to ensure local success;
  • Manage, update, and create service and support documentation within the designated service management system and other documentation sources;
