Headquartered in NYC and with offices in Denver, London, and Sydney, Orion includes a team of over 70 professionals with backgrounds in metals finance, physical metals logistics and sales, and in-house technical professionals responsible for risk assessment and portfolio management.
Orion Mine Finance is a private capital division of Orion, which is focused on investing in mining companies through a combination of debt, equity and royalties. We see a seismic shift in demand for metals driven by energy transition, and we believe that our group is well positioned to capitalize on this trend.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Providing support to the investment process, including preparation of presentations and memos to Orion’s investment committee, management committee, limited partners, and portfolio companies;
- Supporting portfolio managers and investment managers in counterparty profiling, project assessment, deal analysis, due diligence, and transaction execution;
- Representing Orion at conferences and meetings, interacting with portfolio companies as well as potential targets. Note, work-related travel may be required;
- Sourcing new investment opportunities;
- Leading project-based initiatives such as targeting analysis, sector or country analysis, and cold calling.
- Preparing company valuations and financial models;
- Monitoring existing investments for past and projected performance and prepare/update reports; and
Qualifications and Attributes:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Keen interest in the mining sector.
- Collaborative, reliable, proactive teammate with high emotional intelligence;
- 2-4 years of work experience in finance industry (preferably investment banking or equity research), during which time, candidate developed strong financial analysis skills;
- Exceptional judgment, attention to detail and integrity are critical; and
Salary:
- $125,000 to $200,000 per annum, plus benefits and discretionary bonus, depending on the candidate’s experience and performance.
