ABOUT THE POSITION: We are searching for an International Logistics Manager based in Nashville, TN reporting to the VP Distribution and Logistics. This exciting and newly formed role will be responsible for leading the strategy and daily execution of transportation in our international supply chain. You will be the subject matter expert for our transportation network with a primary focus on international logistics and customs compliance but also supporting our domestic small parcel operations. Summary of responsibilities will include but not limited to leading daily execution of international logistics for key brands, identifying/leading logistics key logistics initiatives to improve to improve service, mitigate risk and reduce cost.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and communicate with the Planning and Purchasing teams to meet requirements for on-time delivery, inventory optimization and cost management.
  • Establish partner relationship with Logistics vendors and dive operational excellence and improvements regularly scheduled reviews.
  • Proactively communicate with cross functional counterparts and senior management regarding the effects of transportation; including analysis and/or information regarding performance/service/cost, industry trends, risk or opportunities that may impact Gathr.
  • Establish and oversee the transportation strategy and best practices for ocean, LTL, and parcel freight.
  • Coordinate with the receiving managers and warehouse teams on inbound shipments
  • Act as first point of escalation for transportation driven issues and opportunities.
  • Manage global carrier and freight forwarder negotiation, contracts, quality impact, service, and relationships.
  • Other duties involved in compliance include utilizing Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), using proper valuation methods, documenting classifications, communicating with the customs broker about classifications, understanding free trade agreement qualification, applying for special programs, and following regulatory requirements for export/import.
  • Identify key transportation vendors, negotiate transportation rates or services with carriers to improve supply chain efficiency both ad-hoc and using an RFQ process.
  • Maintain expertise on government regulations, customs regulations, tariffs, and other international import compliance. Monitor product import processes to ensure compliance with regulatory or legal requirements.
  • Manage performance of international carriers using KPI based methodology.
  • Develop and implement specific requirements to streamline receiving processes at Gathr and customer distribution centers.
  • Partners with Freight Forwarders, domestic carriers and ensuring that all loads are picked up and delivered on time and in full.


QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3-5 Years’ experience in operational logistics and/or supply chain management
  • Expertise of the global logistics industry including global trade compliance and international import/export requirements.
  • Unafraid of taking calculated risk and being able to quickly pivot if required.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills and ability to coordinate tasks across multiple functions, global locations, and time zones.
  • Ability to follow Gather’s policies and procedures as well as our operating principles.
  • Passion to identifying, executing change management opportunities.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and thirst for knowledge resulting in a never satisfied with the status quo mindset.
  • Proven track record in developing and maintaining vendor relationships that lead to mutual benefits for both parties.
  • Fast learner that can learn as well as bring new concepts, ideas, and processes to the team,
  • Computer Literacy, preferably experience with database programs, electronic purchase order systems,
  • Knowledge of the import consumer goods industry (Asia preferred).
  • Experience leading and managing vendor identification, negotiation, and performance management.


SKILLS/ PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Very strong analytical with reporting fundamentals and quality decision making skills.
  • Proficient in using technology, Microsoft 365 required, Excel proficiency advanced, PowerBI preferred.

  • Leverages creative thinking, problem solves and generates successful solutions through strategic agility.
  • Excellent customer focus with professional presence

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Transportation Logistics, Operations Management preferred, however relevant experience will be prioritized.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
