We are seeking an International Transportation Specialist to join the Office of International Transportation and Trade. In this role, the Specialist will focus on the assigned international region(s) or countries and will support the office's travel and tourism activities.
As an International Transportation Specialist, you will conduct research and analysis to formulate positions on matters related to international transportation and trade policy, as well as travel and tourism. You will work closely with the office director and other high-level specialists within the Department to communicate and coordinate these positions. Additionally, you will engage with external stakeholders to facilitate communication and provide essential insights for the development of international transportation-related trade policy.
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the development of international transportation and trade policy while also supporting travel and tourism-related activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to research and provide insights on complex policy matters.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
1. Analyze international transportation and tourism matters, and provide policy advice to promote program activities.
2. Develop programmatic strategies to advance USG goals and recommend policy formulation.
3. Contribute to project teams and support higher-level staff in achieving DOT strategic policy objectives.
4. Conduct complex research to analyze issues affecting international transportation and tourism policy.
5. Prepare briefing materials for Director and senior-level staff to engage with stakeholders.
6. Respond to inquiries about DOT decisions and policies related to transportation and international trade and tourism.
7. Perform assigned duties as needed.
