The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets of event planning and implementation, volunteer management, and community outreach. It will offer experience in the use of current business and development technologies, including the use of a computer and software applications. Our internships offer the opportunity to gain professional experience with a national non-profit organization, further develop communication and presentation skills, and experience skills in team collaboration and customer service.

Internship Overview:
- Hybrid position. Intern must be based in the Atlanta, GA or Chicago, IL area and have reliable transportation.
- Internship Duration: 9/11/23 – 12/8/23
- Salary: $23.00 per hour
- Time Commitment: 20-25 hours per week
Internship Outcomes:
Individuals participating in the internship program are provided with an opportunity to:
- Gain experience in the professional world while learning about board management
- Opportunity to explore a career-path with a reputable voluntary health/service organization
- Gain important and practical job skills to be successful in a non-profit environment
- Complete an internship that enriches your academic and professional resume as well as enriching your personal life by making a difference in the lives of others
Responsibilities:
- Assist Sr. Director of Business Accounting with expense and revenue analysis.
- Work with Sr. Director of Business Accounting to generate finance reports.
- Assist with developing training materials for MW Region Business Operations/Finance topics.
- Assist with creating & submitting “Did you know” TIPs in weekly newsletter & other communications.
- Provide general support to the Midwest Business Operations team.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and comfort with working various levels of staff.
- Effective oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities.
- Intermediate to excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Team, and PowerPoint
