Job Description

Curtis Instrumets, A Kohler Co., is looking for a Human Resources Manager to join our team at our Puerto Rico facility. The main responsibilitis are to coordinate human resources functions such as recruitment, training and talent development, compensation and benefits, organizational development, communications and employee relations to meet the company’s business requirements. The HR Manager works closely with the General Manager, VP of HR and Kohler HR teams to establish practices aligned to the business strategy.

The main responsibilites are:

  • Prepare and monitor expense budget for human resources.
  • Leverage metrics to evaluate and drive organizational effectiveness through talent and organizational capabilities and culture. Act as a catalyst for change by guiding and directing organizational design, development, and change management solutions.
  • Developing and implementing programs to enhance competence and retention of workforce. Responsible for assessing and coordinating training and developments needs.
  • Conduct wage survey within the labor market to ensure competitive wage rate. Prepares annual salary budget.
  • Coach associates and leaders regarding employee relations issues including performance management, facilitation of formal/informal complaints to resolution, discipline and/or terminations in line with company policies and legal practices.
  • Represent organization at personnel related hearings and investigations.
  • Recruit, interview and select employees, working closely with hiring manager. Plans and conduct new employee orientation to provide a positive introduction to the company, its policies and programs.
  • Must be able to travel to other Curtis Facilities, Governments Agencies, and Outside suppliers to respond and/or review Curtis Organizational Goals and Objectives.
  • Execute HR processes (i.e., Talent Calibration Reviews, Succession Planning, Annual Merit, Performance Management, etc.) in partnership with plant leaders, HR team and HR COE teams
  • Prepare reports and recommend procedures to reduce absenteeism and turnover.
  • Develop robust talent management plans and drives change initiatives by partnering with plant leaders to attract, retain, develop, and engage talent in critical roles.
  • Provide specialist advice on the interpretation and application of policies and procedures, resolving queries and issues and referring very complex or contentious issues to others.
  • Establishe and maintain relationships of trust to foster transparency, open and honest two-way communication, and collaboration with all levels of associates.
  • Contract with outside suppliers to provide employee services, such as canteen, transportation, relocation service or temporary help.
  • Drive talent acquisition activity to meet workforce planning targets in partnership with plant leadership, HR team and Talent Acquisition COE.
  • Administer and implement the company’s benefits programs.
  • Investigate workplace accidents and prepare reports for insurance carrier.
  • Prepare employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
  • Maintain accurate records with reference to benefits administration including insurance coverage, pension plan, as well as personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews and terminations.

Education and Experience Needed:

  • Ability to use a high level of tact, diplomacy, discretion, confidentiality and empathy/understanding in a diverse work environment.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication competencies.
  • Self-motivated with a bias for action, continuous improvement, and team orientation.
  • Experience as a trusted advisor to management on business issues and business strategy with the ability to link human resources as a driver and influencer of business performance.
  • Very people-oriented; ability to gain confidence of a largely hourly workforce.
  • Comprehensive HR experience, including a complete understanding of and hands on exposure to the full mix of HR functions.
  • Substantive applicable work experience together with comprehensive job-related experience in own area of expertise to fully competent level.
  • Ability to provide guidance and growth to HR department staff.
  • Proficiency with HCM systems (Workday), MS Office Applications, and ADP time keeping systems
  • Bachelor's degree required; HR certificate desired.
  • Minimum 5 to 10 years in a human resources generalist/management role, preferably in a non-union manufacturing environment.
