POSITION SUMMARY: The HR Specialist will have a strong focus and attention to detail on administering the recruitment hiring and employee action processes, which includes the centralized transactional processes beginning with position requisition management and job postings through the point an offer is made, including all employee onboarding activities required to prepare for the employees’ first day. The ideal candidate will possess advanced technical proficiency and exceptional skills in using HRIS and applicant tracking systems, and advanced Excel reporting and analytics proficiency. This position will collaborate directly with employees and hiring- managers in order to coordinate the day-to-day delivery of HR administrative & operational support. This position is responsible for the completion and timely submission of requests, projects, and routine reports while ensuring strict adherence to confidentiality. This position is hybrid and based in Arlington, VA.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Core duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.
  • Coordinate and deliver New Hire Orientation.
  • Propose and implement innovative strategies to streamline and enhance the efficiency of recruitment and HR operations procedures.
  • Analyze recruitment and workforce data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for enhancement in the hiring process.
  • Communicate background completions to HR Manager to ensure appropriate hiring decisions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Provide group-level administrative support for all HR-related actions, including, but not limited to, new hires, promotions, and transfers.
  • Create and maintain detailed reports on recruitment metrics, providing actionable insights to drive continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate the monthly organizational charts process & monthly metric.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Submit background investigation requests for candidates.
  • Human Resources Operations Support
  • Track and confirm all on boarding tasks are completed for every new hire.
  • Excel and Reporting Expertise:
  • Develop customized reports and dashboards to visualize recruitment data, track KPIs, and present findings to management.
  • Utilize Advanced Technical Proficiency:
  • Administer the job requisition, internal and external job posting process, and applicant tracking for all new and replacement positions for the Association.
  • Leverage in-depth knowledge of HRIS and applicant tracking systems to optimize recruitment and hiring workflows and applicant tracking.
  • Ensure all recruitment processes adhere to legal and regulatory requirements, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to ensure compliant job postings and verify the accuracy of position requisitions and supporting documents.
  • Convey an image that reflects favorably on The ALS Association.
  • Lead the End-to-End Recruitment Process:
  • Communicate with hiring managers and direct candidates; provide updates throughout pipeline and on boarding experience.
  • Conduct a thorough screening of candidate dispositions to ensure all appropriate processes are adhered to in the candidate workflow.
  • Maintain trackers related to onboarding, hiring and employee actions.
  • Provide administrative support as required to support various HR Programs & Processes.
  • Collect, analyze and report candidate experience feedback.
  • Prepare onboarding actions with internal teams by providing required new hire personnel and employment details.
  • Compliance and Documentation:
  • Run various reports and provide analysis as needed in HRIS and applicant tracking systems.
  • Utilize applicant tracking system to post job openings on various platforms and manage candidate pipelines efficiently.
  • Responsible for compiling information for the Association’s Affirmative Action Plan.
  • Ensure New Hire Orientation, org charts, contact lists, and policy documents are updated timely.
  • Monitor position activity to determine whether position sponsorship and/or recruitment support is required to broaden candidate reach.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer skills required:; Human Resource Systems; Microsoft Office;
  • A minimum of three years’ experience with full cycle recruiting
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards.
  • Ability to prepare reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and three to five years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow, multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient knowledge of Applicant Tracking Systems, Jazz HR preferred
  • Working knowledge of HR laws and regulations.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to travel on Association business as required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient problem-solving abilities
  • Hands-on experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), ADP Workforce Now preferred
  • Ability to make timely and sound decisions.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees.


Pay Transparency: The ALS Association’s pay range for this position is $67,500 - $72,750 annually.


The ALS Association has compensation ranges for various work locations throughout the United States, allowing us to compensate employees competitively and consistently in diverse geographic markets. The above-listed listed range shows prospective compensation for this role; the appropriate range will be established by what is eventually determined to be the candidate's primary work location. Various factors, including the complexity and significance of the role, job duties/requirements, relevant experience and abilities, and primary work location, determine individual compensation. Compensation ranges are evaluated and typically adjusted on a regular basis. Offers are made within the compensation range that is in effect at the time of the job offer.


The Association may, at its discretion, offer merit-based increases tied to individual performance. The benefits listed may differ depending on employment status with the Association.
