Job Description
As a member of the Information Technology Services (ITS) Human Resources Team, the HR Generalist will function as a strategic business partner. This position will be responsible for executing a wide range of HR responsibilities from a collaborative, customer-service-oriented perspective. The HR Generalist will be expected to assist with ensuring the ITS is making forward progress toward becoming a diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization through advocacy and demonstrating divisional values in their interactions with all constituents. This position will advise and assist their customer areas on HR policies and practices, including but not limited to employee labor relations, payroll, timekeeping, leaves of absence, benefits, and workers' compensation.


Education


Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or Business Administration or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Required Qualifications


  • Working proficiency in the use of typical office software programs (i.e. Microsoft Office) and HR systems.
  • Working knowledge of current federal and state regulations impacting HR.
  • Experience (typically 3 years or more) performing Human Resources responsibilities, including conducting confidential investigations, in an HR role or HR environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong professional relationships with a wide variety of constituents.
  • Experience consulting with managers on a wide range of HR issues, recommending actions, and influencing change.
  • Experience with HR Information Systems (including data entry and/or running reports and queries), and/or timekeeping systems.


Desired Qualifications


  • Experience (typically 6 months or more) working with employees and/or labor relations.
  • Human resource experience at an academic institution, including familiarity with HR policies/processes.
  • PHR or SPHR Certification or SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP Certification.
