This posting is for multiple vacancies: Positions 60071117, 60066895 The standardized annual salary for this position is $42,264 dependent upon fund availability and OSHR approval. This two positions are Eligible for the Applicant Referral Bonus! Reporting to the Correctional Food Service Manager, this position will function in the food section at a male correctional facility. This position's responsibilities include:
  • Supervising of inmates performing large-scale food production and food service operations at minimum custody prison facilities.
  • Applicants seeking National Guard Preference must attach a NGB 23A (RPAS) if they are a current member of the NC National Guard in good standing. If a former member of the NC National Guard who served for at least 6 years and was discharged under honorable conditions, they must attach either a DD256 or NGB 22.

  • Performing under the general supervision of a Correctional Food Service Manager and is evaluated daily for the quality of food service and sanitary conditions. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) withState Benefits. The selected candidate may be selected to work any shift and will work weekends and holidays to ensure 24/7 staff coverage.   • Overseeing inmate workers engaged in a variety of activities in food production including cooking, baking, and serving food to the inmate population.
  • Training inmates in institutional cooking, baking, and serving, while maintaining sanitation standards in all areas of the kitchen.
  • Maintaining proper food storage and sanitation. Employees ensure that the inmates supervised are preparing food according to all quality and sanitary regulations.
  • Documented knowledge of large-scale food production and food service activities. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of experience in institutional food preparation and food services, in management of a commercial food service operations, as a Correctional Officer; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualifications Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
