Job Description
Description Of Work
: This position is located at Craven Correctional Institution a medium custody, male felon diagnostic processing center with a population of 850 offenders and 360 staff. Employees in this class are involved in the planning, supervision, and coordination of activities in a medium custody facility. The Captain will conduct shift line-up, make post assignments, and inspect all personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post. The position is responsible for various administrative duties including shift scheduling, timesheets and overtime management, employee appraisals, develop operational, emergency plans, post orders and standard operating procedures as needed. Ensures the safety and sanitation of the area is in compliance with Division policy and OSHA standards. Account for persons and assets and ensure that all assigned equipment is operationally ready. Identify training needs and coordinate delivery of training to subordinate staff. This position also handles referring numerous disciplinary charges, incident reports and OSI internal investigations. The Captain ensures the safety, security, and welfare of the staff and the offender population.

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements
: High school or General Education Development (GED) diploma and two years six months of experience as a Correctional Lieutenant, or two years of experience as a Correctional Lieutenant II; an equivalent combination of education and experience.
