Salary Grade:NC05 Salary Range: $30,915-$54,101 "For current State employees, please note that as of June I, 2022, promotional priority and RIF priority will be determined based on the new salary grade" This position is located at Lincoln Correctional Center in Lincoln County, NC. Employees perform first-line supervisory work in food production and food service operations in a correctional facility. Work requires a dual role of custody and food preparation and food service work areas. Employees oversee inmate workers engaged in a variety of activities in food production including cooking, baking and serving food to inmate population. Work includes training inmates in the preparation of food, serving and maintaining standards of sanitation in all areas of the kitchen; and performing storage responsibilities. employees are responsible for quality of work performed by inmates. Work is performed under general supervision of a Correctional Food Service Manager, and is evaluated daily for quality of food service and sanitary conditions. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies The Knowledge, Skills and Abilities listed below, along with the Minimum Education and Experience requirements, are REQUIRED to qualify for this position. To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following: Documented knowledge of large scale food production and food service activities. Documented knowledge of cooking equipment used in commercial and/or institutional kitchens. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of experience in institutional food preparation and food services, in management of a commercial food service operations, as a Correctional Officer; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualifications Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
