As part of its efforts to diversify its earnings base, Nomura is expanding its investment management business outside of Japan and enhancing its overall offering. Investment Management International covers a wide array of businesses, including, amongst others, Nomura Corporate Research Asset Management (NCRAM), Nomura Asset Management US (NAMUS), and Nomura Private Capital (NPC).

 

The firm seeks to hire a seasoned professional that works with the various groups to create a coherent and integrated strategy, operating model, and organization in order to foster both organic and inorganic growth in the years to come. Therefore, this role plays a pivotal role in shaping Nomura’s longer term strategy for Investment Management International.

 

Primary Responsibilities
The leader in this role will work closely with senior leadership on a range of management initiatives including business expansion strategy, market & competitor analysis, business planning and performance reviews, client strategy, and Mergers & Acquisitions. The leader will work directly with the Wholesale Chief Strategy Officer, the Head of Investment Management Americas and Senior Management to determine the right strategy for reaching Nomura’s aspirations as it relates to the Investment Management International related businesses.

  

The candidate’s primary responsibilities are expected to include:

• Conduct acquisition screening and perform strategic due diligence to help grow the business
• Research and analyse business profitability and macroeconomic indicators and analyse specific client segments
• Drive strategic initiatives with a focus on strategic development, long term business growth, and overall positioning of the Investment Management International franchise
• Conduct competitor/industry research and analysis leveraging both public and non-public sources
• Be a part of and work closely with other Strategy teams (e.g., Group, Wholesale) as well as the IM Planning Team on broader firm-wide initiatives.
• Prepare management presentations including business plans, business reviews, offsite presentations
• Identify, analyse and monitor issues that affect profitability, growth, and productivity

 

Skills and experience we are looking for

• At least 7-10 years of experience in a strategy role, in a consulting firm or a strategy/business planning unit of an asset manager
• Strong communications skills (verbal and written) – ability to interact confidently with senior business leadership on a range of topics
• Strong analytical skills, including ability to develop financial models and perform data analysis
• Deep industry experience and familiarity with all aspects of the investment management business

·       Interest in the wider Investment Management, Capital Markets and Investment Banking industries including key trends and market dynamics including Market Structure, Fintech, Regulations: Ability to work on multiple projects and initiatives

 

*base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, corporate and functional title and duties, job-related knowledge and advanced degrees, skills, and experience.
