Job Description

Position Purpose

The Head of People is responsible for overseeing all human resources functions for three properties and approximately 400 employees.The key functions of this role include staffing qualified personnel, ensuring compliance with employment statutes, managing wage and benefit programs, directing training initiatives, and providing coaching and discipline to maintain positive employee relations. The Head of People will be a strategic partner in driving HR policies and programs to guarantee compliance and foster a positive work environment for our team members.

Responsibilities:

·Maintain thorough and up-to-date knowledge of all Human Resources and employee regulations and laws, ensuring compliance within the properties.

·Participate in EEO, Unemployment, Wage & Hour, Worker's Compensation, OSHA, ADA, Immigration and Naturalization Service hearings, and implement policies and programs to guarantee compliance.

·Communicate and develop new policies, information, and directives to all employees, ensuring staff understanding and compliance with HR policies and procedures.

·Instruct staff on the interpretation of HR policies and procedures, providing guidance and support.

·Coordinate and monitor the recruitment, screening, and reference checking of all non-exempt personnel.

·Recruit, interview, and recommend all exempt personnel as applicable.

·Set up, approve, and maintain all wage and salary programs, including performance evaluations.

·Oversee and review bi-weekly payroll for accuracy, inclusive of correct timekeeping, meal breaks, PTO, LOAs, etc.

·Recommend and/or approve all employee transitions, such as new hires, transfers, promotions, etc.

·Design and lead initiatives including research and diagnostics (annual employee engagement survey, performance reviews and exit interviews), to maximize the engagement and retention of all team members and build organizational commitment to the desired culture.

·Create and/or update organizational governance policies, processes and standards and external legal and regulatory requirements, ensuring alignment and adherence across the organization.

·Maintain an open-door policy, fostering a positive employee relations environment.

·Monitor and analyze turnover statistics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing retention strategies.

·Conduct training classes to enhance employee skills and knowledge.

·Update and submit required reports in a timely manner, ensuring accurate record-keeping.

·Ensure compliance with all HR-related Loss Prevention SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures).

·Become a certified trainer in all current HR training modules, delivering effective training programs.

·Practice positive employee relations through coaching, counseling, and discipline, addressing issues and concerns promptly.

·Participate in and monitor orientation programs, ensuring a smooth onboarding process for new employees.

·Develop managers for future advancement, providing guidance, counsel, and professional growth opportunities.

·Ensure managers are utilizing coaching, counseling, and discipline to address issues and promote employee development.

·Ensure completion of the Associate Opinion Survey by all employees, fostering a culture of open feedback and continuous improvement.

·Streamline paperwork processes, develop internal communications, and improve record-keeping practices.

·Manage all personnel files, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance.

·Manage resume and application files, maintaining an organized and accessible database.

·Develop and monitor recruitment resources, exploring innovative methods to attract top talent.

·Cultivate productive relationships with property leaders to maintain an open-door environment and promote collaboration.

·Ensure consistency of company policies, procedures, and corrective action processes for property associates, providing guidance and support.

·Oversee HRIS platform and ensure efficient utilization for all employees.


Qualifications:

·Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).

·Extensive knowledge of California and NY employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices.

·Proven experience in human resources management, within the hospitality industry and high-volume restaurants.

·Strong understanding of recruitment, performance management, employee relations, and training.

·Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels.

·Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with tact and professionalism.

·Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.

·Proficient in HRIS systems, MS Office Suite, and other relevant software applications.

·HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) is a plus


Compensation:

$150K-$200K based on experience.

Health Care benefits +96 Hours of PTO + 401K match

Bonus is discretionary up to 20% based on performance
