Today, BARK leads the dog industry with our subscription and ecommerce products across toys, food, treats, toppers, dental, and accessories. Outside of our owned platforms, pups can find us in over 40,000 retail stores and on Amazon. Our social media following is robust and our customer service is best-in-class. In the end, we aim to make every dog happy and to become THE Dog Company for every family with a belly-scratch-loving pup.


Who We’re Sniffing For


BARK is seeking a Head of Global Marketplaces to lead the company’s Amazon business and to grow BARK’s marketplace footprint across additional platforms in Mass, Grocery, and e-commerce. Today, the business is small, but the ambition is high and the opportunity is huge.


BARK wants to meet consumers where they are and to deliver dog happiness to every dog in the world. To do so, BARK is seeking a strong and entrepreneurial leader, who is passionate about business development, and who has a proven track record of running a multi-platform and global marketplaces business.


KEY DUTIES


  • Entrepreneurial Passion - someone who thinks creatively, works independently, and who is driven by the opportunity to run their own business and realize growth opportunity.
  • Additional marketplace experience - Knowledge and experience launching and growing a multi-category business on additional marketplace platforms including Walmart, Kroger, Ebay, as examples, globally.
  • Inventory Management Leadership - Experience with inventory planning and management to ensure that product is in stock and inventory levels are optimized.
  • Marketplace Sales & Marketing Expertise - Fluent in platform tools and marketing opportunities, with a proven track record for creative thinking, innovation, and strong ROI.
  • Data Obsession - Passion for data analytics and understanding performance metrics to fuel business growth.
  • P&L Ownership - Experienced with forecasting, managing, and leading a cross-functional team to plan and deliver the fiscal year forecast, managing revenue, costs, and margin.
  • External Partnership Management- Partner with BARK’s best-in-class full-service channel management marketplace agency who has a proven track record of increasing sales for retail brands on Amazon and other digital marketplaces.
  • Dog Obsession - someone who loves dogs with all their paws.
  • Team Leadership - a beloved and respected leader who can lead and inspire cross-functional partners, develop direct reports, and drive external partners.
  • Amazon expert - A proven track-record leading an Amazon business – driving significant year-over-year growth and delivering over >$25M annually; vendor-side leadership, 3P experience, and global success desired.
  • Business leadership - understand the role Marketplace plays in our corporate growth strategy; build and execute a multi-year vision and roadmap that can deliver upon these goals and report on key progress and milestones.


Experience


  • Demonstrated experience of building and executing large-scale strategic initiatives and partnerships
  • Experience managing and building high performance growth teams
  • Experience of operating within a multi-channel/multi-region brand and managing vendor relationships
  • Global experience preferred
  • 10+ years of eCommerce experience
  • 5+ years of experience running and managing a large-scale 3rd party marketplace offering; Amazon experience a must
  • Experience owning multi product P&L/ budget of at least 20 Million

  • Successful at establishing and leveraging highly collaborative relationships with cross functional partners throughout the organization
  • Demonstrated thought leadership and ability to influence at all levels in the organization, up to and including the CEO
  • Strong in analytics and data-driven decision making
  • Mastery of Amazon media & marketing tools


This position is a full-time salaried position. It is located on-site at our office in New York, NY, Columbus, OH or remotely. We offer health insurance for both you and your pup, 401k, wonderful team lunches, cold brew on tap, and a dog to pet anytime you wish.

  • This position is eligible for equity
  • This compensation range is based on BARKs good faith estimate as of the date of this posting and may be modified in the future. Actual pay for this position will depend on a variety of variables including location, travel, internal equity, experience, education, skills and expertise.
  • The base salary range for this position is $150,000- $230,000
