Job Description
Relay Tx is a biotechnology company advancing a broad pipeline of promising precision medicines developed via our Dynamo platform. Through unparalleled insights into protein motion, we are able to develop highly selective drugs against important disease drivers. We are seeking an experienced and versatile target biology leader who will help build the next generation target portfolio at Relay Tx.
Reporting to the Chief Scientific Officer of Early Research, you will lead a team that enables and progresses targets through our pipeline and will partner closely with leaders in early research, late research and precision medicine to identify future targets of significant clinical relevance. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to make an impact and cares deeply about getting medicines to patients in need.
Your Role:
  • Be a member of the Early Research Leadership team where you’ll influence program progression and direction, as well as portfolio strategy
  • Build and foster collaborations across disciplines – chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics, protein sciences, structural biology, discovery technologies, and pharmacology
  • Think mechanistically about targets and how to modulate their function in a disease-relevant way and have an ability to integrate disciplines to address key biological questions
  • Mentor and manage the early research biology team, providing scientific leadership, technical expertise on multiple projects and help develop our next generation of scientific leaders
  • Oversee biology activities on new targets entering the portfolio, help cross disciplinary teams validate target modulation hypotheses to develop lead molecules to establish cellular proof of concepts
Your Background:
  • You have earned a Ph.D in biology
  • You have a track record of leadership, innovation, and collaboration with the demonstrated ability to lead groups of scientists
  • You are a clear, candid, and concise communicator – whether in person, by phone/ email, or in front of an audience presenting
  • You know what successful small molecule drug discovery and development looks like
  • You have a reputation for being an effective leader who can energize and motivate your teams and develop your employees
  • You have a track record of developing strong partnerships with other leaders in research
  • You know how to partner closely with experts and leaders across research and portfolio management
  • You bring 15+ years of biotech/pharmaceutical industry experience in small molecules drug discovery
  • You are passionate about early research biology, think mechanistically about a target, and have a strong strategic mind
About Relay Therapeutics
Relay Therapeutics is a clinical-stage precision medicines company transforming the drug discovery process with the goal of bringing life-changing therapies to patients. Built on unparalleled insights into protein motion and how this dynamic behavior relates to protein function, we aim to effectively drug protein targets that have previously been intractable, with an initial focus on enhancing small molecule therapeutic discovery in targeted oncology. Our Dynamo platform integrates an array of leading-edge experimental and computational approaches to provide a differentiated understanding of protein structure and motion to drug these targets. We have built a world-class team of leading experts from each of these disciplines, and they are driven by a deep collaboration at every step of our drug discovery process.
Our team is equal parts fearless and relentless, with a shared passion for working collaboratively in intellectually stimulating environments. If you’re excited by the challenge of putting protein motion at the heart of drug discovery and passionate about making a difference in the lives of patients, join us!
