Corbus is searching for a dynamic scientific lead to join our biologics team. You will be engaged in translational research to define mechanism of action to guide clinical development of Corbus’s portfolio of anti-tumor agents, as well as provide hands-on support to the discovery and early preclinical development of therapeutic antibodies. You will have an opportunity to design and lead multiple high priority projects through the selection of development candidate(s).
This represents an excellent opportunity to work with an enthusiastic and talented team of highly skilled scientists in a matrixed and collaborative environment. Corbus is developing therapeutic antibodies in the area of immunotherapy and targeted payload (ADC) delivery. Your role requires in-depth technical and hands-on knowledge of cell-based assays to elucidate factors driving tumor sensitivity and resistance and evaluating biomarkers of response in order to guide patient selection and clinical positioning. You will also drive the advancement of our growing pipeline programs by working closely with the scientific leadership team to validate proof-of-concept assays that interrogate novel targets, collaborating with the antibody discovery team to scale assays in support of broad candidate screening.
The successful candidate will have excellent organizational and oral/written communication skills, the ability to design and troubleshoot experiments independently, and the organizational skillset to manage multiple projects simultaneously on tight timelines.
Key Responsibilities and Opportunities:
- Understanding of key cancer pathway interactions, feedback mechanisms, and features of tumor microenvironment in clinical samples to guide rational drug combinations.
- Evaluate and analyze published scientific and patent literature outside of their immediate area of expertise and apply this understanding to drive innovation
- Ability to critically design, evaluate, summarize, and interpret data, and effectively communicate scientific concepts, findings, and interpretations at group, project team and departmental research meetings
- Manage the design, coordination, and implementation of key research studies aimed at lead candidate selection, animal proof-of concept, pharmacology, mechanism of action, and other innovative studies.
- Lead new target nomination and validation efforts to help design project strategy, experimentation, analysis, and interpretation of experiment
- Lead efforts to refine and execute robust in vitro cell based assays to establish the activity and mechanism of action of therapeutic antibody candidates.
- Measuring target engagement and pharmacodynamic biomarkers reliably and quantifiably to advise clinical decisions for selecting therapeutically relevant doses and schedules.
- Leverage a network of external CROs and Scientific Advisors to ensure efficient and effective execution of critical research projects
- Partner with the Translational biology team to select relevant cell-based models in support of candidate discovery and in vivo animal models.
- Design pathway driven approaches, including genomic/transcriptomic strategies, to define mechanism of action and identify biomarkers of response or resistance
- Contribute to the writing of technical and regulatory documents, patents, scientific manuscripts, etc.
- Contribute to and ensure the quality of both invitro and In vivo pharmacology study reports, data reviews and interpretations, presentations, scientific publications and recommendations to development teams and management.
Requirements
- Ability to act as an external ambassador and to influence external organizations to enhance Corbus Pharmaceuticals’ reputation for scientific excellence.
- Ability to drive, manage, execute and deliver results for complex multi-functional projects.
- Demonstrated impact in advancing candidates through translational research and preclinical development.
- Experience in planning, designing, budgeting, and implementing research studies internally and through external vendors
- Highly-developed problem solving and risk management skills, and attention to detail.
- Ph.D. in Tumor Biology, Immunology, Pharmacology or related scientific discipline.
- Collaborative working skills with proven ability to motivate and develop others
- 7+ years of experience in pharmaceutical research and development, ideally in industry, in oncology directed programs
- Experience in developing an antibody based immunotherapy and/or antibody drug conjugate from early discovery to clinic is highly preferred.
- Deep understanding of cellular and molecular mechanisms of tumorigenesis and tumor resistance mechanisms
