Job Description
The Opportunity:
We have built a world-class team dedicated to using Machine Learning DNA-Encoded Library Technology (ML-DEL) to accelerate drug discovery and deliver lifesaving medicines to patients faster. We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist with an established track record to join the multidisciplinary ML Discovery Team. As a member of the experimental group, you will develop novel affinity-based screening methods and use DNA-encoded library screening technology to generate quality data needed to build ML models and identify small molecule ligands to support drug discovery programs in Relay. Specifically, you will be accountable for designing and executing experiments that expand our platform’s capabilities and contributing to advancing new molecules into the clinic. If you are passionate about working in the lab, making data-driven decisions, and driving cutting-edge innovation, then we want you to join us!
Key Responsibilities:
  • Work independently, and collaborate with project teams to propose, develop, and execute novel affinity selection methods.
  • Accountable for the design, execution, and data analysis of affinity-based screening techniques with the goals of generating quality data needed to build ML models and identify small molecule ligands to support drug discovery program.
  • Represent the MLD Experimentation group on internal cross-functional drug discovery teams in collaboration with data science, medicinal chemistry, computational chemistry, protein sciences and biology representatives.
Your Background:
  • Demonstrated strong scientific leadership as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ideal candidate would have prior DEL or directed evolution experiences.
  • Hands-on experience in one or more of the following: affinity selection screening techniques, protein purification, biophysical binding assays, biochemical assay development, molecular biology techniques (PCR, qPCR) and automation
  • Committed to data driven decision making and executing laboratory experiments that enable decisions.
  • Experience working with DNA binding protein is a plus.
  • Strong data literacy, analysis, and visualization skills of large data sets is a plus.
  • PhD or BS/MS with 1:3 years industry experiences in molecular or chemical biology, protein engineering, biochemistry, or related field,
  • Demonstrated an ability to work in multidisciplinary teams, displaying excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
We believe in building balanced teams and a place where our people can be their best self every day. We encourage people from underrepresented backgrounds to apply.
About Relay Therapeutics
Relay Therapeutics is a clinical-stage precision medicines company transforming the drug discovery process with the goal of bringing life-changing therapies to patients. Built on unparalleled insights into protein motion and how this dynamic behavior relates to protein function, we aim to effectively drug protein targets that have previously been intractable, with an initial focus on enhancing small molecule therapeutic discovery in targeted oncology. Our Dynamo platform integrates an array of leading-edge experimental and computational approaches to provide a differentiated understanding of protein structure and motion to drug these targets. We have built a world-class team of leading experts from each of these disciplines, and they are driven by a deep collaboration at every step of our drug discovery process.
Our team is equal parts fearless and relentless, with a shared passion for working collaboratively in intellectually stimulating environments. If you’re excited by the challenge of putting protein motion at the heart of drug discovery and passionate about making a difference in the lives of patients, join us!
