Job Description
The Role:


Moderna is seeking an experienced Bioanalytical Senior Research Associate to join the Bioanalytical and Molecular Assays - Ligand Binding Assays team. We are a high-performance group which focuses on de novo assay development and validation of methods to evaluate pharmacodynamics and immunogenicity for novel mRNA-derived proteins. We are also building an internal regulated bioanalytical laboratory to support clinical sample analysis to accelerate data delivery for high value programs for which this position will play a key role executing ample analysis and validation experiments. Here's What You’ll Do:


  • Design and execution of ligand binding and cell-based assay method development and validation experiments to evaluate pharmacodynamics and immunogenicity for novel mRNA-derived‑ proteins.
  • Evaluate and review raw data and study analytical reports and assay validation reports, as appropriate, to ensure laboratories are performing analysis in compliance with current regulatory, industry, and Moderna standards and that data are of the required quality (regulatory and scientific).
  • Collaborate with clinical operations and sample management to define sample journey and develop appropriate laboratory manuals.
  • Responsibilities also include analytical equipment procurement/qualifications, preparation and maintenance of SOP’s, determination, and control of critical reagents for example.
  • Responsibilities also include documentation of experimental details in electronic lab notebook, critical reagent generation and characterization, general laboratory upkeep, preparation and maintenance of SOP’s, reports and data presentations.
  • Responsible to ensure assays are developed and validated in a timely manner to meet program timelines
  • Execution of sample analysis runs for clinical specimens


Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table:


  • Knowledge of GcLP requirements and understanding of current industry trends and regulatory expectations associated with analytical science.
  • Experience with Ligand Binding and/or Cell Based Assays is required
  • Candidates with experience working in a regulated environment (GLP, GCLP, GMP) are preferred.
  • Keen attention to detail, ability to multi-task, effective communication skills and a strong desire to collaborate with the team are required

  • Ability to effectively communicate program objectives, data analysis and present findings to group team members and key stakeholders.
  • A BA/BS in biological science field and a minimum of 5 years of industry Biotech/pharmaceutical/CRO experience.
  • Candidates with experience doing PK, ADA, or nAb assays are preferred
