We have immediate and future openings for a Chief Executive Officer. This is a unique opportunity to push a great open source project into the commercial market. We have the company, funding, initial business plan, and founding engineers. We are looking for a CEO to partner with the existing CTO to lead growth and scale the business.

About Open Core Ventures

Founded by Sid Sijbrandij, Open Core Ventures (OCV) is a venture capital firm that starts commercial open source software companies. Our team identifies open source software projects with traction, recruits passionate project founders and contributors, and launches new companies. OCV companies aim to create tangible value for the open source community by providing access to resources and reducing the barrier to entrepreneurship.

OCV believes in the power of open core and the impact of open learning and collaboration. Our approach diverges from conventional venture capital because OCV starts companies and recruits founders; OCV does not invest in existing companies. About our CEOs:

After a company in our portfolio has developed some traction with customers and has an MVP in place, the CEO will own the following:

• Drive the vision for the company
• Take responsibility for driving an evolving commercialization strategy
• Lead future fundraising activities to follow venture-backed growth model
• Maintain a collaborative relationship with the CTO and the Open Source Community
• Establish and communicate company culture
• Grow customers and establish a product-market fit while exhibiting a seller mindset

Qualities we want in CEO candidates:

• Founder Charisma: You have the ability to lead fundraising activities and attract top talent.
• Industry / Domain Experience: You have a passion for the open source project and have a vision for its impact on the market.
• Speed/Iteration: You understand speed can make or break a startup. You are not afraid of making decisions.
• Leadership Ability: You inspire as you lead. You have a distinct view of being the "seller" and the face of the business, comfort pitching the business, and the ability to distill the value proposition into an easily understood story.
• Drive / Ambition: Your career demonstrates a trajectory of growing responsibility.
• Track Record: VC-backed startup experience is a must; ideally, founder experience. Prior Y Combinator experience is a plus.

Location:

This role is fully remote, but we prefer our CEOs to be located in the San Francisco Bay Area or another major metro area in the United States and have the ability to travel.

The actual offer, reflecting the total compensation package and benefits, will be at the company's sole discretion and determined by a myriad of factors, including, but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, and other relevant business considerations.
