The Office of Water Programs (OWP) on campus at Sac State is seeking to hire a student who works primarily with the Information Technology and research departments on a variety of specialized application development projects and will also provide assistance with maintenance of the Office of Water Programming website and internal data processing applications.
Conditions of Employment
This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause.
UEI does not allow employees to hold more than one UEI Job at a time, or work in more than one account per pay period. UEI employees who are considering leaving their current UEI position for a different UEI position should inform their supervisor in writing and provide at least a week’s notice.
Depending on the type of position you are applying for, a pre-employment background check consisting of one or more of the following may be conducted: employment history, professional references, criminal check: educational verification (i.e., degree, license, or official transcript), DMV clearance. Applicants will be required to pass required pre-employment checks to the satisfaction of University Enterprises, Inc. (UEI) and the hiring Agency or Department.
Prerequisites
Students must be enrolled in at least: six-semester units or nine quarter units for undergraduate students; four-semester units or six quarter units for graduate students.

Work Schedule
F lexible workdays and work hours, Monday – Friday, between 8 AM – 5 PM. Final work schedule to be determined by supervisor.
Additional Work Schedule
Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 20 hours per workweek (Sunday – Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per workweek during breaks; (winter, spring & summer).
M inimum Qualifications
- Proficiency with web application development.
- Ability to work well as part of a small development team.
- Ability to prioritize assignments and see projects through to completion.
- Proficiency with HTML, JavaScript, and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS).
- Understanding of relational database concepts (SQL).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Good troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency with Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP) or web development
Duties and Responsibilities
- Other programming projects as directed.
- May oversee undergraduate students.
- Maintaining and troubleshooting existing applications.
- Assist applications developer and research engineers in implementing new software, usually for web-based applications.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office environment.
The Office of Water Programs develops and implements programs and publishes manuals for operators of water treatment plants, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, and municipal and industrial wastewater treatment and reclamation facilities. OWP research engineers and scientists perform and manage research efforts focused on characterizing water quality issues, including developing and testing methods to improve water quality. Our researchers provide technical advice on water policy issues, assist in watershed planning, and perform modeling, data analysis, and cost assessments to help both the public and private sectors make informed decisions based on accurate information and good science.
