The Position:
Applications are currently being accepted for Student Services Assistant in the Enrollment Services-Admissions located at San Diego City College. Hours are Monday-Thursday from 8:30 AM-5:00 PM and Friday from 8:00 AM- 4:30 PM. Selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the department's needs.
Please note that an employee may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor.

The successful applicant will have the following desired qualifications; possession of a high school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of experience in a customer or student service setting working directly with customers or students and the ability to:
  • Maintain confidential files and records.
  • Work independently with little direction.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Use technology in the delivery of student services.
  • Culturally and equity-minded responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.
  • Interpret and apply academic policies and procedures within a higher education setting.
  • Establish and maintain successful working relationships with students, staff, and faculty.

Knowledge of:
  • District organization, operations, policies and objectives.
  • College rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Modern office practices, procedures and equipment. Oral and written communications skills.
  • Academic policies and procedures.
  • Admissions, enrollment, and testing requirements.
  • Applicable sections of State Education Codes and other laws.

Skills and Abilities to:
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with students, staff, and faculty.
  • Train and provide work direction to others.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Interpret and explain rules, regulations, procedures, policies and catalogs regarding student admission, transcript evaluation, prerequisite requirements and special regulations.
  • Plan and organize work.
  • Work independently with little direction.
  • Meet schedules and timelines.
  • Compile data and prepare reports.
  • Prepare, process, and transmit a variety of student information.
  • Maintain confidential files and records.
  • Effectively use technology within a college setting.


Licenses:
Pay Information:
Range 16 ($3,934.20- $5,424.79) per month based on the current Classified salary schedule. New employees will begin on Step D ($3,934.20). Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the CBA. This position is FLSA Non-exempt (may accrue overtime). Excellent Benefits are provided to all Contract employees with assignments greater than, or equal to, 50% (0.50 FTE) and all eligible dependents. A temporary probationary period will apply to the employee entering this assignment.
