Fleet Transportation Mechanic Jobs

Responsibilities

The Fleet Transportation Mechanic creates and maintains policies and procedures related to the management of Mayo fleet vehicles. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: vehicle assignment and tracking; preventative maintenance/repair scheduling and completion; assistance and guidance regarding vehicle check-out/check-in procedures; ensuring vehicles are safe, clean, and properly maintained for usage. Requires knowledge of state and federal regulations, Mayo Clinic organizational policies, and work unit operations. Utilizes continuous improvement methods to enhance the quality, availability and utilization of Mayo fleet vehicles.

The Fleet Transportation Mechanic will work collaboratively with the MGR-General Service and/or Supervisor-General Service in regards to the following: researching replacement vehicle information and creating annual budget recommendations regarding the procurement and/or sale of vehicles; reviewing and placing purchase orders, and working to resolve invoice/receipt problems; ensuring proper licensing and purchase/lease agreement issues are handled in the most cost effective manner; reviewing operational cost data as well as identifying expense management initiatives; reviewing and paying vendor statements for services rendered and disbursements to other departments as appropriate.

Qualifications

High school diploma is required. Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred. Must possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written/oral communication skills. Must be able to work independently, and possess mature judgment and problem-solving skills. Must demonstrate aptitude to troubleshoot mechanical equipment, and possess automotive mechanical experience. Must possess basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word), and fleet software used for data entry and various fleet functions. Previous leadership experience is preferred.

License/Certification
Must have a valid Florida driver’s license. Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification in the following: Automobile & Light Truck Certification (A Series), Auto Maintenance and Light Repair Certification (G Series) required within 12 months of hire.
