Job Description
Sony Biotechnology Inc., based in San Jose, California, supplies advanced flow cytometry analysis and sorting technology for use in life science research. It markets products to private and public research institutions, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, and large medical centers. Over the years, Sony Biotechnology products have received numerous outstanding new product awards as well as technology awards including the Frost & Sullivan Emerging Technology award, and the Milestone Award.
Sony Biotechnology is seeking a Field Service Engineer to work with our flow cytometry team. This role will be based out of the Los Angeles or San Diego area and provide service to this region. The Field Service Engineer is responsible for performing installations, preventive maintenance as well as warranty and post-warranty repair services to customer equipment within the assigned service territory. This position reports to the Regional Field Service Supervisor.
Location: Remote employee, based anywhere in the Los Angeles or San Diego area
Responsibilities:
  • Keep management informed of major issues
  • Ability to work independently or with a team to accomplish goals
  • Provide timely and meticulous service to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Handle service escalations for product as well as routine service in assigned region
  • Strive to constantly improve
  • Ensure that instruments are complete and fully functional after service work is concluded.
  • Maintain thorough and prompt documentation of all service work
  • Provide remote technical assistance to customers
  • Attend training to maintain certification on Sony products as needed
Qualifications:
  • 1 or more years of experience in operation or service of flow cytometers
  • Associates degree or certification in a technical field, Bachelor of Science degree desired
  • Able to travel to sites for service calls, roughly 50% of the time
  • All candidates must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Ability to handle complex service calls independently
  • Ability to learn new service techniques and demonstrate proficiency
  • Proficiency with office productivity software
  • Excellent, problem solving, communication, organizational skills
The target annualized base salary range for this position is $85,000 to 100,000. The individual will be paid hourly and eligible for overtime. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
