REPORTS TO: Director of Facilities, Chief Engineer
STATUS: Full-Time; Non-Exempt

Your role as a Facilities Engineer, Electrical Technician:
The Facilities Engineer, Electrical Technician performs complex technical work, on a journeyman level, in the installation, operation, maintenance, modification, service and repair of electrical systems, equipment, fixtures and related electro-mechanical systems, in accordance with applicable Electrical Industry Codes. The Electrician inspects and tests elements of electrical systems to locate and diagnose faults and malfunctions, performs required repairs through replacement of inoperative parts or re-wiring of circuits, and provides an estimate of repair (and/or replacement) costs beyond the capability to perform. The Electrician also calculates branch circuit loads, interprets electrical wiring diagrams and schematics, and determines methods and requirements for wiring circuits. In addition, as an Engineer you will lead general ballpark repairs and special events. This includes working in building trades, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing, and mechanical. Additionally, the position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule for events and maintenance, including nights and weekends.
All the responsibilities we will trust you with:
  • Pumps
  • Boilers
  • Maintain superior appearance and working condition of all the MEP systems assigned to the Engineering Department
  • Test, adjust and repair sewer diverters as needed
  • Assures that electrical systems installed by outside electrical contractors meet the current National Electric Code Standards and are in accordance with approved Padres Engineering standards by inspecting electrical jobs on property which are performed by outside electrical contractors
  • Assist contractor with periodic testing of fire alarm system
  • Proactively search for opportunities to improve the physical facility, including identifying problem or deficient areas, developing immediate solutions and recommending workflow efficiencies
  • Assist to ensure compliance with all City, State and Federal safety and environmental laws, codes, standards, and regulations
  • Test fire sprinkler systems
  • Assist emergency authorities and response teams
  • Assumes other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Aid in training and development of fellow engineers
  • Compose written, factual reports of occurrences and incidents on property, including appropriate and prompt completion notices relative to all assigned work orders
  • Operates special shop equipment such as drills, grinders, and forklifts
  • Perform all Maintenance in a safe manner and comply with all written company policies
  • Provide prompt, professional, and courteous responses to all requests, including those from food and beverage service provider, other contracted building service providers and Ballpark patrons
  • In addition to the electrical systems, facilities engineers must be able to operate, maintain, and perform repairs on MEP and life safety equipment throughout the facility as outlined by Director, Engineering including, but not limited to:
  • Fan Powered Terminals and Terminal Boxes
  • Air Handling Units
  • Represents the Club in a positive and professional manner at all times
  • Act as a first responder to fire alarm signals
  • Life Safety Systems
  • Provide assistance to fire department
  • Plumbing and Sewer Systems
  • Prepares parts requisitions for the supervisor's approval
  • Promotes preventive maintenance as a strategy in maintaining electronic test equipment and mechanical tools by keeping accurate records on each piece of equipment indicating all required and performed maintenance, performing spot checks of equipment to determine their working condition, and performing periodic cleaning and servicing of tools and test equipment
  • Provide temporary power set up for non-baseball events and concerts
  • Ability to successfully troubleshoot unplanned challenges and offer cost effective, safe, and compliant solutions
  • Test smoke fire dampers
  • Follow NFPA 70 guidelines for electrical preventive maintenance and safety
  • Performs journeyman level electrical work in the installation, operation, maintenance, modification, service and repair of electrical systems, equipment, fixtures and related electro-mechanical systems by inspecting and testing elements of electrical systems to locate and diagnose faults and malfunctions, performing required repairs through replacement of inoperative parts or re-wiring of circuits in accordance with applicable Electrical Industry Codes, and providing an estimate of repair(and/or replacement) costs beyond the capability to perform
Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most:
  • Proficient computer skills including experience with MS Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc., and ability to learn and master new software programs
  • Maintain professional demeanor with a high degree of discretion, integrity, and accountability
  • Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and effectively work well with all employees and outside vendors in a collaborative, respectful manner
  • Consistent, punctual and regular attendance
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills with proven ability to multi-task and manage projects on strict deadlines
  • Must be able to apply electrical formulas and conversion tables to job requirements
  • Experience with LEAN Six Sigma philosophies and practices are a plus
  • Clear understanding of OSHA regulations and the ability to proactively ensure compliance with such regulations
  • The ability to use electrical test equipment and small hand and power tools, such as wrenches, drills, soldering irons, volt-ohmmeters, amp meters, circuit testers, and vacuum and pressure gauges, is required
  • Experience with Tridium Niagara HVAC controls a plus
You will be required to meet the following:
  • Able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. This includes the ability to work baseball games, non-baseball events, and traditional office hours, whichever is needed at any given time
  • Minimum physical requirements: able to travel to and gain access to various areas of the ballpark (indoor and outdoor) for prolonged periods of time in a variety of weather situations; position requires standing 100% of the time, the ability to lift and transport 25lbs or more, climb up and down stairs and ladders, access remote work areas and confined spaces ( i.e. crawl spaces, roofs, etc.), and the ability to use full range of manual dexterity (i.e.: sitting, squatting, bending, kneeling, lifting and walking)
  • Electrician Certification (NEC) or C10 license
  • Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • As a condition of employment, you must successfully complete all post-offer, pre-employment requirements, including but not limited to a background check and drug screening
  • Minimum 5 years of previous experience
  • Must possess a valid California driver's license and clean driving record
  • Able to work unsupervised on 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shifts, as needed
  • Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of employment
Pay and additional compensation:
Per the California pay transparency law, the base hourly range for this full-time position is $33.65 to $39.90. As a candidate for this position, your pay and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, job-related skills, and any other factors the San Diego Padres considers relevant to the hiring decision for this position.
