Facilities Maintenance Technician Jobs

As a member of the Facilities team, you will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance and repairs on vivarium buildings, related facilities, and equipment, as well as providing cleaning and sanitation services. You will work under the general supervision of the Facilities Manager, following established departmental guidelines, University policies, and federal, state, and local regulations, while utilizing appropriate safety practices. Your work performance will be periodically evaluated by the Facilities Manager, who will provide feedback and support as needed. Salary: $33.00/hour

Required: * * Knowledge and skill in building maintenance and related terminology. * Skill and experience in performing maintenance tasks on various systems. * Knowledge of and the ability to apply the concept of contamination control practices including engineering, administrative, and procedural controls for the containment of pathogens, including disinfection, and waste handling methods appropriate for work in bio-containment animal facilities up to BSL2 level with BSL3 practices. * Knowledge of functions, operation, and servicing procedures for various equipment used in the facility. * Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with peers, subordinates, supervisors, administrators, customers, visitors, and outside agencies. * Oral communication skills to obtain or convey clear, concise, and grammatically correct information. * Working knowledge of standard safe work practices. * Ability to stand, walk, and stoop; push, pull, and lift or lower objects weighing up to 50 pounds. * Ability to work in wet or humid weather, and in fluctuating temperatures. * Ability to work under adverse situations and conditions, e.g., dirty, noisy, etc. * Ability to write and understand English and to follow written and oral instructions. * Ability to work in an animal research environment which requires continuous exposure with animals. * Ability to use a computer using Microsoft Office applications. * Ability to learn environmental monitoring software and troubleshoot environmental monitoring system devices Preferred: * Familiarity with Environmental Monitoring software.
