About the Role:

The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for overseeing consulting engineering firm with the design of the Phase 2 Expansion for Castle Mountain.  Senior Electrical Engineer will assist in other reviews of the project and work closely with Project Controls and the Manager, and other duties as required.  This position requires strong communication skills, technical expertise, and a strategic mindset.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate efforts of the Sub-Contractor(s) in area of specialty, ensuring that the Contractor performs diligently all obligations under the contract (quality, schedule, and cost).
  • Direct the purchase of construction material.
  • Prepare/review major equipment specifications, datasheets, requisitions and bid evaluations.
  • Perform engineering calculations to support design decisions.
  • Plan and manage budgets. Provide weekly reports of electrical progress and ETC.
  • Discuss and solve technical problems with vendor’s representatives.
  • Plan, organize, direct and control daily operations.
  • Develop preferred vendors with Site\ Region Electrical, Instrumentation, and OT to establish preferred brands and models to minimize required spare equipment.
  • Operational Technology Network Planning including Fiber-optic, copper, and wireless technologies, both unlicensed and licensed. Stability and loading estimation. Protocols include Ethernet\IP, MODBUS TCP, PROFINET and PROFIBUS, HART, and IO-Link.
  • Provide a completed inspection report in a timely manner.
  • Oversee analysis of data and information.
  • Develop and implement quality control programs and prepare reports.
  • Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones and monitor progress.
  • Ensure that manpower, equipment, tools, materials, and design necessary to support projects schedule will be available.
  • Coordinate with local utilities to provide and establish service including line power and fiber optic telecommunication.
  • Review of vendor documentation, participate in FAT testing activities as required.
  • Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements.
  • Select trade subcontractors and co-ordinate their activities.
  • Preform quality assurance/ control, maintain logs and verify all items are correct prior to pre-inspection.
  • Prepare and submit construction project budget estimates.
  • Establish and implement policies and procedures for quality control.
  • Provide technical assistance during construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up Communicating issues, questions, or concerns to supervisors and implementing contractor.
  • Monitor and control Client and Licensors punch lists for handover of plant to the Owner.
  • Coordinate with the team in resolving instrument, control & electrical technical issues.
  • Coordinate with Site IT and OT for Corporate Security requirements.
  • Initiate the participation of the various internal areas/ groups, ensuring input provided to Contractor(s) is adequate and timely, and in accordance with roles & responsibilities.
  • Provide direction on electrical scope and requirements to the suppliers based on specifications included in the procurement agreement.

 

Qualifications & Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in mining & metallurgy construction and/or heavy industrial environment.

Skills:

  • Knowledgeable and experienced with electrical equipment in a process plant and in a substation including Power & Distribution transformers, MV/LV Switchgear, MV/LV MCC, protection relays and logic, safety interlocks and lockouts, VFD, VFD with Regen,
  • Ability to handle confidential information and meet specified deadlines.
  • Ability to estimate CAPEX of projects at the early stage by identifying major equipment along with their purchasing cost
  • Able to work in a dynamic team environment and under tight time constraints.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to lead a team of contractors/consultants and supervise project deliverables according to the project schedule and budget.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, problem-solver, time management, great communications skills.
  • Ability to provide/review basic/detail engineering level work for process plant electrical design.
