About The Role

We are looking for a well rounded electrical engineer that enjoys working in an agile environment. We expect our engineers to be self-motivated, willing and capable to make decisions based on incomplete information and having a get-it-done attitude. The main line of work will be to build and integrate machine control systems for our custom manufacturing nodes. Our system is built around a multiprocessor architecture with distinct processors handling networking, general machine control and specialty controls like vision and motion. We emphasize modularity for reuse to speed up subsequent builds of nodes with similar needs.

What You’ll Do:

• Document design specifications, testing procedures, and troubleshooting guides for reference
• Provide support to manufacturing team during production to ensure adherence to design specifications and quality standards
• Bringup, debugging, and prototyping of electromechanical systems
• Design and implement control systems, motor drivers, and sensors for precise robotic movements and accurate data acquisition
• Support the building of engineering fixtures
• Design and build custom electronics for our automated manufacturing systems
• Integrate third party electronics
• Work closely with embedded systems, software, and mechanical engineering teams to integrate electrical and software systems
• Create and maintain component and module libraries for reuse
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies and incorporate the advancements into the design and development process
• Participate in the system architecture definition

What You’ll Need:

• Soldering and test and measurement shop skills
• Understanding of SPI, UART, I2C, etc
• Schematics entry, layout, and library management (Altium Designer preferred)
• Motor Control Experience
• Maker mentality
• Good documentation habits
• Power electronics bring-up experience
• SPICE simulation knowledge
• Ability to write bring-up code for processors in C, C++
• Excellent bring-up and debugging skills
• Understanding of mixed signal circuit design
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
