This position is located at Oklahoma Department of Transportation's Central Office - Maintenace Division / Facilities Branch

Job Summary
ODOT Construction of Maintenance Yards, Residencies, Salt Sheds, and Facilities
  • Maintaining project scopes, schedules, timely completion, and budget.
  • Manages ODOT staff performing inspections, and project management.
  • Prepares project progress updates for the Division Engineer, monthly.
  • Serves as a single point of contact for the project on all matters.
  • Prepare responses to project inquiries from public, legislatures, Governor’s Office, governmental agencies, planning agencies, media, and citizens, to the Division Engineer.
  • Develop and execute the Facilities Branch Asset Management Plan that defines projects schedules, cost, resources, and communication requirements, according to available funding.
  • Provides research and assistance to the Field Districts for right-of-way acquisitions regarding new locations for Maintenance Yards and Residencies in accordance with current state law and department policies and procedures.
  • Identifies all project schedule and budgetary problems in advance of catastrophic occurrences and presents appropriate recommendations for recovery and/or adjustments to decision makers in conjunction with scheduled or unscheduled verbal and/or written status reporting and/or at formal and informal project management meetings.
  • Oversight of initiating, planning, plan development, design, bidding, controlling, and closing the projects.
  • Facilitates project team building, manages assigned projects, and prepares accurately detailed monthly status reports for written and/or verbal presentation at formal and informal project management meetings.
  • Advises the State Maintenance Engineer of all significant project delays or problems; assures that all project milestones are completed as scheduled; sets and/or rearranges project priorities as needed; determines causes of delays or problems, recommends solutions, and follows up on implementation of solutions.
  • Manages assigned projects; provides direct administration and oversite of the plan development, design, bidding, and construction through functional managers , consultants, project stakeholders, government officials, property owners, and other interested parties. Develops work plans and schedules with team input; directs the project management processes of initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing projects; tracks and controls assigned project costs and estimates.
  • Manages Consultants for design, inspection, residency on projects.
  • Construction of ODOT Facilities across the state, all 8 Districts.
Oversight of various ODOT and DPS inside remodeling, repairs, or modifications
  • Liaison with the Division of Capital Assets Management (DCAM) on all building related issues. Communicates with them to help determine possible solutions.
  • Maintenance of Central Office Ward Building
  • Prepares project progress updates for the Division Engineer, monthly.
  • Manages ODOT staff performing remodeling oversight, inspections, and project management.
  • Maintaining project scopes, schedules, timely completion, and budget.
  • Development of a management plan that defines project’s schedules, costs, resources, and communication requirements.
  • Oversight of initiating, planning, plan development, design, bidding, controlling, and closing the projects.
  • Serves as a single point of contact for the project on all matters.
Level Descriptor
At this level incumbents are responsible for performing supervisory or advanced transportation management work. Incumbents may serve as a resident transportation manager or may direct a transportation branch within the Department of Transportation or Oklahoma Transportation Authority
Education and Experience
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a bachelor’s degree and three years of experience in transportation related work plus one additional year of qualifying experience in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of qualifying experience for each year of the required education. ## Note: No substitution may be made for the required supervisory experience.
