Job Summary
This position serves as a confidential executive level assistant to members of the MDE Executive Cabinet at the Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner level. Provides primary back-up support to the MDE Commissioner's Office and other senior management as necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the office and the achievement of departmental goals and objectives. Also provides high level administrative assistance to a variety of task forces and workgroups to ensure that stakeholders are fully supported in their efforts to provide the department with input on policy and programs, and ensuring all members and staff are informed and ready to perform business when they meet.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience managing daily office operations, organizing multiple priorities and effectively carrying out complex oral and written instructions with minimum supervision.
- Strong grammar, editing and writing skills with proficiency in business English.
- Experience with virtual platforms such as MS Teams, Zoom or WebEx
- Effective customer services skills and ability to work with persons of diverse backgrounds.
- Comprehensive experience drafting, writing and editing reports and correspondence
- Ability to research, analyze, and present data into meaningful responses and reports.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify and address problems with confidentiality, diplomacy, and integrity.
- Technical proficiency with word processing, presentation and spreadsheet programs (ie. Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Outlook)
- Experience providing high level executive adminstrative support
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a confidential setting and handling confidential and/or sensitive correspondence
