Racine Literacy Council (RLC) is a 501c(3) charitable nonprofit organization that provides an array of services that allow Racine County residents to attain their full potential and to be engaged citizens. These services include, but are not limited to, Adult Basic Education, English Language Learning, Family Literacy, Workplace Culture and Literacy, Financial Literacy, Digital Literacy, Citizenship, Refugee Resettlement Support and Driver’s Education Preparation. RLC’s vision is that every person in Racine County has the literacy skills and confidence to live the life they dream.
RLC provides these services through an intricate team of professional staff, contracted instructors and volunteers..
Executive Assistant
Duties and responsibilities
- Helps to maintain a safe and functioning facility, making calls for quotes and contractors as needed.
- Ensures adequate building supplies through a regular office supply order.
- Acts as the first point of contact for those entering the RLC building. Greets them and assists visitors.
- Oversees the preparation of and enters invoices, cash receipts, and other bookkeeping activity, as well as prepares checks for invoice payment.
- Assists with volunteer and student coordination and communication.
- Maintains all databases – Mailing lists, digital mailserves, etc..
- Manages donation receipts and acknowledgments in a timely manner.
- Assists in RLC event planning.
- Supervises administrative volunteers assigned to general duties in the front office space
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
- Prepares payroll, tracks vacation and holiday pay and submits necessary reports to Ex. Director, Treasurer, and Accountant
- Is responsible for opening and closing the facility daily, as needed.
Qualifications
- Devoted to keeping confidentiality of student, tutor and organizational records.
- Strong communication skills
- Demonstrated responsiveness and sensitivity to cultural differences
- Bilingual in Spanish and English.
- Ability to work independently, accurately, and efficiently with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated record of managing priorities and deadlines
- Working knowledge of Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office
- Accounting software experience in Quickbooks.
- Ability to establish and maintain administrative systems
- High School Diploma Required. Associate’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of three years of related experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
Reporting
This position reports to the Executive Director
Position Type
Full Time (32 hours per week) Currently pays $18/hour
Position Hours
Monday-Thursday, 8:30- 4:30 p.m. with flexibility for some hour changes and remote work.
