What We’re Searching for:


The Electrical Engineer has the overall responsibility for mill-wide electrical engineering projects and processes. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this position is responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining reliability plans and programs to reduce unscheduled equipment downtime and improve overall process reliability. This position manages capital and major maintenance projects and is involved in process optimization and efficiency improvements, as well as equipment reliability improvements. The position includes all aspects of project management including scope development, estimating, planning, design, scheduling, construction, and budget management. The position requires strong project management, and technical and leadership skills.


What it takes:


  • Investigate internal customer complaints, determine the nature and extent of the problem, and recommend remedial measures.
  • Prepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipment.
  • Assist Maintenance in designating and implementing projects to help maintain and improve electrical, electrical distribution, switchgear, instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems.
  • Oversee project efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget.
  • Inspect completed installations and observe operations, to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards.
  • Develop budgets, estimating labor, material, and construction costs, and forecasts.
  • Assist in developing capital project programs for new equipment and major repairs/replacements.
  • Assist in establishing engineering service providers.


How You Will Contribute:


  • Assist with major equipment work scopes for bidding purposes and continue to refine/detail the scope of work.
  • Prepare bid requests from vendors, engineering consultants, contractors, and other outside organizations as needed. Evaluate and recommend selection.
  • Manage Capital Projects. Track project spending and manage within budget. Acquire spending estimates and create forecasts.
  • Troubleshoot chronic issues and develop action plans to minimize the impact on equipment availability.
  • Scope, estimate, and prepare funding requests for capital projects.
  • Develop, implement, improve, and manage new and existing equipment predictive and preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Lead RCFA (Root Cause Failure Analysis) process to identify the root cause and implement corrective actions to prevent a recurrence.
  • Be technically oriented, detailed in approach, work well with people at all levels in the organization, and promotable to management positions in the company after building background and experience in our business.
  • Manage contractors and approve timesheets.
  • In addition to Project Work, assist the Maintenance team to develop, implement, and sustain reliability best practices to reduce unscheduled maintenance downtime and costs.
  • Develop capital investment proposals and manage all detailed design and construction of capital projects with the objective of meeting technical, cost, reliability, and safety goals.
  • Review and critique outage and Preventive Maintenance execution to identify obstacles and recommend improvements.
  • Prepare detailed engineering designs and layouts.
  • Formulate and engineer solutions to solve existing problems.
