Job Description

Nuvance Health is a network of convenient hospital and outpatient locations — Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital, Norwalk Hospital, and Sharon Hospital in Connecticut and Northern Dutchess Hospital, Putnam Hospital Center, and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York — plus multiple primary and specialty care physician practice locations including The Heart Center, a leading provider of cardiology care, and two urgent care offices. Non-acute care is offered through our affiliates including the Thompson House for rehabilitation and skilled nursing services, and the Home Care organizations.
Summary:
Field assembly, calibration, repair, and preventive maintenance of Medical Imaging and Diagnostic X-ray equipment with minimal supervision and technical support to ensure efficient operation of diagnostic equipment.
Responsibilities:
Maintain in-depth working knowledge of electronic circuitry and schematics as well as test equipment applications to perform compliance testing according to all regulatory standards on VBH and MTS radiology equipment
Perform electrical, mechanical, and radiation safety inspections according to manufacturer's specifications on radiological imaging systems and related ancillary equipment
Calibrate and evaluate, according to manufacturer's specifications, multiple imaging systems and subsystems to ensure proper performance standards
Identify faulty radiological imaging equipment, implement appropriate corrective action to the subsystem and/or component level
Develop and perform radiological imaging systems preventive maintenance procedures and frequencies according to manufacturer's specifications to ensure proper equipment performance. Compile all pertinent information and enter data for further evaluation
Trouble-shoot and repair imaging equipment by maintaining an analytical knowledge of utilization of equipment from the end user's view and perform board/component level repairs
Order on a priority basis: imaging system supplies, repair parts, and services
Expedite repairs via a thorough review of service manuals, service notes, and familiarity with all servicing methods minimizing downtime
Lead installation/de-installation from start to finish to ensure proper and efficient implementation with minimal disruption to hospital services
Perform acceptance testing on new radiological imaging systems, prior to use
Assist in the design of installation of equipment at new facilities associated with MTS clients
Instruct radiographers and technologists at VBH and MTS in the proper use and implementation of imaging equipment
Communicate and interact appropriately with physicians, other professionals, and technical support staff to maintain a positive working relationship
Conduct in-house continuing education programs for VBH employees, physicians, and MTS clients to keep users abreast of new developments
Provide status of equipment and other pertinent information to appropriate supervisors
Contribute to service communication improvements, direction, and changes to enhance MTS’ growth
Ensure availability to provide service coverage while servicing equipment to meet hospital's needs.
Prioritize assignments to ensure efficient utilization of MTS Radiology Services in the absence of the MTS Director
Promote a safe and efficient working environment by adhering to hospital and department policies and procedures
Adhere to Infection Control and Quality Assurance Policies and Procedures at all times
Maintain appearance of work area(s) according to department standards at all times
Attend and actively participate in all in-services
Report immediately all incidents, irregularities, unsafe conditions, equipment, and/or unusual occurrences to the supervisor
Demonstrate regard for the dignity and respect of all patients, family members, visitors, and hospital personnel. Display a caring and courteous attitude and represent the hospital in a positive manner to all persons.
Promote and contribute positively to relationships with service customers
Maintain the confidentiality of employees and departmental information with no infractions
Participate in activities to promote teamwork for optimal patient care and positive departmental relations.
Perform other duties as necessary and directed by supervisor to work effectively as a member of the team and to cover other duties during absence, vacation, or vacancy of other employees.
Requirements:
Four-year BS Degree in Electronics or equivalent military experience
Five to eight years of Radiology Electronics experience
General Electric Training School, AA degree or equivalent
