Position Overview


The Field Engineer role will support Savvas software products in US K-12 schools and districts. Through an escalation process, the Field Engineer will help resolve complex problems by efficiently identifying technical issues in Savvas products and customer hardware and network systems, and present appropriate resources and solutions. This may be done in both a remote and onsite capacity.


Due to the uniqueness of providing technical support in a K-12 environment, Savvas Field Engineers must be patient, have or gain an understanding and empathy towards the challenges of the K-12 educational environment, and communicate effectively and efficiently. The Field Engineer role must be able to effectively balance technical and customer service abilities to deliver consistent customer care.Additionally, a candidate for this position must have highly developed critical thinking skills and must be able to maintain positive and friendly customer interactions, even under pressure and amongst multiple competing priorities. The success of this position helps drive future software sales.


This is a home-based remote work position , preferably in the Eastern or Central Time Zones. However, travel may be necessary throughout the US on an as needed basis. The ability to travel up to 50% of the time during peak seasons may be necessary.


Responsibilities

  • Work concurrently on projects of varying size/scope and duration
  • Manage difficult customers with complex or challenging demands
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to culture, race, gender, background, experience, and other individual differences in the workplace.
  • Anticipate, recognize, mitigate, and resolve potential problems with rigorous decisions and solutions consistent with organizational goals
  • Ability to work within a larger project team or department in a fast-paced, dynamic, and demanding environment
  • Convey information and ideas clearly, concisely, and persuasively using terminology and jargon appropriate for the intended audience
  • Work independently and understand, communicate, and resolve business problems in situations where little supervision, standardization, or information exists
  • Act as a software, systems, and infrastructure subject matter expert during deployment phases of customer lifecycle and service fulfillment
  • Capacity to travel at least 75% for extended periods and to distant locations
  • Ability to lift up to sixty (60) pounds
  • Foresee impact of decisions before executing them by perceiving and evaluating alternatives and looking beyond the obvious


Experience


  • Excels in a team environment
  • Completion of one or more courses relating to certifications indicating formal training and expertise with the analysis, deployment, integration, optimization, troubleshooting, and consultation of technical or project management disciplines is desired.
  • Experience working in a support capacity within a K-12 environment desired
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in systems analysis and systems deployment in support of multi-platform system integrations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively translate technical information to the end user
  • Associates Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other technical discipline, or experience commensurate with a two-year degree
  • Minimum of five (5) years of
