Description

Title: Disability Case Manager

Location: This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). Ideal candidates will live within 50 miles of one of our PulsePoint locations.

The Disability Case Manager will be responsible for reviewing, investigating or documenting Short Term Disability (STD) or Long Term Disability (LTD) claims to determine eligibility for benefits.

How you will make an impact:

  • Works with Disability Case Management Nurses and Physician Reviewers to review complex/questionable claims
  • Gathers clinical and eligibility information to verify approved period of disability
  • Knowledge of ERISA, Fair Claims Practices Model Act, privacy regulations, punitive damages statues and state and federal laws governing group insurance Administers disability income payments on behalf of group policyholders
  • Obtains necessary agreements to determine FICA, and Federal and State income tax requirements
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of company products and service
  • Reviews claim materials against disability policy coverage and duration guidelines to determine liability and adjudicates the claim.
  • Monitors and acts on potential benefit reductions under contract fraud, misrepresentation and malingering

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience in Disability Case Management
  • HS diploma or GED
  • Up to 2 years experience in claims or customer service preferably in the managed care or healthcare insurance industry; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree preferred

For candidates working in person or remotely in the below locations, the salary* range for this specific position is $ 23.15 /hr to $41.68/hr

Locations: California; Colorado; Nevada; Washington State; Jersey City, NJ; New York City, NY; Ithaca, NY and Westchester County, NY
