Our Department of Property Management consists of the following programs: Building Management, Property Acquisition, Construction Services, Survey, Replacement and Renewal Projects, as well as Records, Energy/Sustainability, and Grounds Maintenance.
As the Director, Property Management, you will be responsible for the overall direction of the Property Management Department. This position works collaboratively with Property Management Division Managers to prepare annual operating and capital improvement budgets and long-term management plans; prepares and presents Departmental Reports relating to budgets, project status, performance, timelines, and maintenance; personnel administration; attends County Board of Commissioners meetings, providing strategic guidance and direction to ensure the Department achieves its financial vision, mission, and long-term goals.
NOTE: This position has been designated by the Manatee County Commission as serving at the will and pleasure of the County Administrator. Employees so designated may be terminated at any time with or without cause.

What You Will Do
- Develops, maintains, and implements policies and procedures related to the services provided.
- Plans for the future needs of the organization relative to the expansion modification and growth of facilities and personnel.
- Manage Department Operations ensuring compliance in accordance with all Federal, State, and Local Government codes, rules, regulations, and safety guidelines.
- Prepares, presents, and monitors the department’s approved operating and capital budget.
- Knowledgeable in the laws, codes ordinances and policies applicable to Property Management.
- Knowledgeable in budget preparation, analysis, and administration.
- Knowledgeable, or able to quickly learn and apply organizational, functions, policies, laws, and administrative procedures of local government.
- Able to make sound organizational and service improvements through innovation.
Required Skills
- Minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience
- Five (5) years related experience in a Federal, State, or Local Government setting.
- Minimum of three (3) years high level Budgetary and/or detailed Financial Management experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Building Construction, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Master’s Degree in Related Field

In addition to the qualifications set forth in this job description, employees holding this position must have a background allowing them to have regular access to secured areas of certain governmental facilities. Such employees may, due to policies of the Sheriff or Chief Circuit Judge, be subject to independent background investigations which exceed those conducted by Manatee County. Employees holding this position are hereby given notice that these independent officials, or their duly authorized representatives may, based on the results of their investigation, decline to permit the employee access to secured areas of facilities under their operational control. In the event the County is unable to fully utilize such employees in other County operations not requiring secured area access, such employees are subject to non-disciplinary separation from County Employment.
