Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that supports the independently incorporated Planned Parenthood affiliates operating health centers across the U.S. Planned Parenthood Action Fund is an independent, nonpartisan, not-for-profit membership organization formed as the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. The Action Fund engages in educational, advocacy, and electoral activity, including grassroots organizing, legislative advocacy, and voter education.
PPFA and PPG seeks an experienced and thoughtful Director, Project Management, Global Operations in the Office of the Chief Operating Officer of PPFA. The Office of the Chief Operating Officer drives the operating strategy of PPFA, oversees the central shared services for the national office and affiliates, and focuses its efforts on our people, our processes, and our technology. This role reports to the Managing Director of the OCOO and is part of the Global Operations team in the Planned Parenthood Global Division of PPFA.
Purpose : The Director will lead and manage projects and activities across Global Operations to drive strategic initiatives to support increasing effectiveness, efficiency and impact in the work that PPFA and PP Global does. The role is responsible for formalizing Global strategic
planning processes and aligning the development of the strategy across functions, translating it for people across functions and business units, and instilling a practice of strategic business planning in line with the National Office’s strategic plan. This effort will entail incremental long-term change. The role will work closely with the Managing Director and Global Operations leadership team to provide direct support to a diverse portfolio of services for the Operational support to the National Global Office.
They will evaluate project needs and ensure our collective work reaches optimal delivery and service levels. This individual will oversee the evaluation of OCOO initiatives at the global level to ensure there are efficiencies in processes and proper protocols in place. This role will design routine performance monitoring and assess program effectiveness, catalyzing new policies and their implementation to best support organizational priorities and operational needs.
Under the strategic leadership of the Managing Director, Operations, this role partners with leaders and staff in Parenthood Global and the National Office Operations units to integrate strategic frameworks and initiatives across the organization to maximize opportunities and create efficiencies in support of operational excellence and PPFA’s mission.
Delivery: Responsible for the creation, organization, adaptation, execution and completion of specific Operations programs. This includes managing relevant stakeholders, setting deadlines, working with a variety of departments in the U.S. and Globally, and communicating with leadership about the state of the projects - ultimately ensuring projects stay on track and on budget, and adjusting if necessary to meet new requirements.
  • Identifying and managing potential risks and liabilities of multiple projects
  • Manage internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects
  • Ensuring resource availability and allocation
  • Supporting the Global Operations leadership team in delivering exemplary services and support to our constituents within the National Office and throughout the Federation.

  • Tracking and reporting the status of major initiatives/ projects across Global Operations
  • Developing an approach for the full life cycle of projects (e.g. project initiation, design, execution, and completion), and maintain project management methodologies, standards and tools that will be used within Global Operations
  • Supporting the OCOO in delivering exemplary services and support to our constituents within the National Office and throughout the Federation.
  • Attending conferences and training as required to maintain proficiency
  • Preparing publications and/or products, to include, but not limited to drafts (correspondence, presentation decks, executive pre-reads), proofing documents, and producing final products for the OCOO.
  • Facilitates the execution of the strategy by working collaboratively with the other Global Management Team members and functional units (ie., Finance, People & Culture, etc.) ensuring that the strategy is communicated and easily understood by all throughout the organization.
  • Measuring project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Align project development and delivery with corporate policies and customer needs/expectations
  • Supports the Managing Director, Operations, in the execution of the strategic plan/framework at the global level while adhering to the COO Division broader framework.

Engagement:
  • As part of the senior leadership team in the Global Operations leadership team this role will be responsible for advising on the direction of key projects/ initiatives to meet organizational needs, goals and priorities.
  • Providing input to program development and assessment of program quality
  • Being a visible team leader at PPG and our New York City office and personally engaging with staff, clients, and partners, as needed
  • Designs and presents status reports, tools and materials for the execution of projects.
  • Assessing programs and providing clear recommendations for direction on initiatives to maximize impact, while being thoughtful to the diverse needs of our audience.
  • In close collaboration with the Managing Director, Operations, leading change management to cascade organizational policies and plans and contextualizing them for the global context
  • Working closely with our Office of the General Counsel and Facilities to manage contract management, including submitting Partner Intake, NDAs, contracts, and Bid Waiver requests, drafting RFPs when necessary, coordinating negotiations and tracking responses.
  • Collaborating with colleagues/clients reflecting empathy of perspectives; identify recognition of mutual and complimentary services.
  • Designs engagement and communication strategies in alignment with project strategies and goals.
  • Providing strategic and thoughtful support to Global Operations functional leaders in strategic work across workstreams
  • Engaging with clients and/or partners to facilitate assessment of needs and provision of services.
  • Acts as an advocate for policies or programs that may be less popular and builds buy-in from stakeholders.

  • 5+ years of direct work experience in international development, preferably in reproductive health or public health, and with exposure to Africa and Latin America required. Specific experience in managing global operations from a US based-location with sensitivity to local program teams’ cultures a plus.
  • A team player with the ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple and simultaneous projects, good time management, and attention to detail
  • Experience working with sensitive and confidential information is required.
  • Experience leveraging data to glean insights, evaluate programs, and inform strategic decisions

$125,000 - $135,000 a year
