Job Description
Job Summary:


The Sr. Director of Professional Development and Education is responsible for the professional development, management, planning, implementation, evaluation, and improvement through outcome measures. Innovation, program development, and consultative services for all departments and employee groups at all levels in the Continuum. This position collaborates with key stakeholders to drive quality outcomes through metrics and analytics. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating competency-based curriculums for professional development of novice to expert nurses that encompass regulatory standards, evidence-based practice, policies and procedures, and accountability.


Essential Responsibilities:


  • Develops and implements programs and initiatives to support the professional growth and development of Continuum staff, with a focus on retention, mentoring, career trajectory, and succession planning.
  • Partners with key stakeholders, including senior leaders, clinical leaders, and staff, to assess the learning and development needs of the Continuum and to design programs and initiatives that meet these needs.
  • Manages and leads a team of education and development professionals to design, deliver, and evaluate professional development programs and initiatives that align with the Continuums clinical, operational, and financial goals.
  • Oversees and provides leadership for the overall Professional Development and Education program for the Continuum, including designing and implementing a comprehensive strategy to meet the learning and development needs of all Continuum staff.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to ensure that the Continuums training and development programs adhere to regulatory standards, evidence-based practices, policies and procedures, and accountability.
  • Provides leadership and direction to the budgeting and financial management of the Continuums training and development programs, ensuring the effective utilization of resources.
  • Develops and implements a comprehensive evaluation and assessment program to measure the effectiveness of professional development and education programs and to continuously improve them. Said programs include but are not limited to: application of utilization management criteria, process adherence, and regulatory/accreditation/contractual compliance.
  • Provides strategic leadership and direction to the Continuums training and development initiatives, utilizing innovative technology and adult learning methodologies to enhance the impact and reach of these programs.
  • Collaborates with external organizations and academic institutions to enhance the reach and impact of the Continuums professional development and education programs.
  • Leads large-scale change interventions in which training and development play a significant role within the Continuum, driving continuous improvement and growth in the organization.
  • Represents the Continuum in professional development and education related discussions and initiatives, both internally and externally.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience


  • Minimum eight (8) years of progressive experience in management with understanding of health care operations, reporting and analysis.
  • Minimum twelve (12) years of experience in health care is required.

Education


  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Masters degree in business administration, health care administration, operations research, public health administration, nursing or six (6) years of experience in a directly related field.
License, Certification, Registration
  • Registered Professional Nurse License (Georgia) required at hire

  • Experience in working proactively with consumers and other customers to identify and meet customer needs and requirements.

  • Experience as a nurse leader in a hospital setting.
  • Developing dynamic, constructive working relationships and partnerships with operational, physician and labor partners.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including, but not limited to:
  • Decisiveness, action-orientation, capability to persevere in difficult situations, and a focus on strategic leadership issues.
  • Experience in working effectively with physicians in the provision and oversight of care.
  • Experience leading case management and utilization review functions in a hospital setting.
  • Demonstrated emotional intelligence - able to operate and remain effective in complex and challenging situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (e.g., listening and communication skills) characterized by effective interactions with a diverse range of internal and external constituents, stakeholders, and audiences.
