Position Focus:
Reporting to the Head Basketball Coach and responsible for the day-to-day administrative duties of the entire program. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the basketball program including travel coordination, meal planning, practice scheduling, and planning coaches recruiting schedules. Planning of all team event and functions such as alumni weekends, team banquets, and award ceremonies. Assist in managing all aspects of recruiting coordination such as official visits, and appropriate paperwork filing. Assist the head coach in developing and monitoring the program’s budget. Work with all areas within department including but not limited to ticket office, facilities office, compliance office.
Essential Duties
1. In association with Sr. Associate AD and Business Office, develop and monitor the operating budget for a varsity sport program. 2. Plan, monitor, make and/or approve all financial decisions for multiple budgetary tasks in the operating budget. 3. Assists with monitoring the annual fund in conjunction with the Athletic Alumni Affairs and Development office. 4. Oversees the direct day-to-day operations of the program including home games, special events, and both team and recruitment travel. 5. Assists in the area of recruiting, assisting the recruiting coordinator with official and unofficial visits. 6. Oversees all communication between the program and players’ families. 7. Establishes best practices for all activities, policies, and program practices to develop and ensure consistency within the program. 8. Acts as liaison and represents the program to all on-campus organizations. 9. Acts as liaison to outside organizations including, but not limited to media (sport information), game day officials, Player/Agents, Corporate Relations, highlight video company, etc. 10. May serve on alumni, student or other institution committees related to the program. 11. May manage a summer job program for members of the team who are in New Haven over the summer.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor degree and two years’ experience in a NCAA Varsity sport program. Must have experience coaching, recruiting, and utilizing video equipment. Playing experience at the NCAA level, or an equivalent, necessary.
Required Skill/Ability 1:
Excellent organization and communication skills.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
Experience in Photoshop, Canva, or similar applications preferred.
