Job Description

Summary:

Bright Farms is at the forefront of transforming the supply chain for leafy greens in the United States. The Company currently operates 16 acres of production through 6 farms in the northeast and Midwest and is building 5 new regional hubs that will increase the Company’s production by 60 acres over the next 2 years. Our supply chain is driven by fanatical customer service. We are looking for an experienced, dedicated, self-motivated individual who will lead, manage, and execute the Operations activities with the suppliers and the business team for uninterrupted daily operations.

The Director of Logistics is a highly collaborative position within the Bright Farms organization, requiring a strong degree of organization and communication skills to provide uninterrupted transport of supplies and products throughout the organization and to customers. The Role manages all aspects of an internal fleet, pool of drivers, and Third-Party Logistics (3PL) services to control costs and ensure timely delivery of raw materials, supplies, and finished goods to a broad spectrum of locations. Responsibilities include the execution of transportation strategies, establish governance/processes to monitor carrier performance, and oversight of critical transportation functions that drive continuous improvement and customer satisfaction. This role reports to the Vice President of Supply Chain.

Responsibilities:

  • Audit Transportation network and integrate plans to maintain regulatory compliance for Transport Needs.
  • Drive the development and use of a Transportation Management System (TMS) for data-driven decision making.
  • Build a strategic plan for logistics operations for all current and future greenhouse sites.
  • Establish long term, strategic carrier relationships.
  • Manage maintenance and control of internal Assets (fleet) and Third-Party Logistics (3PL) agreements.
  • Conduct all sourcing and onboarding of activities related to new logistics carriers and contracts.
  • Establish Governance and processes to monitor carrier performance.
  • Other Duties as Assigned
  • Supervise transport of raw material inventory (cross-supply) to greenhouses and limit the disruption to operations.
  • Develop Logistics and Transportation KPIs that promote continuous improvement and cost reduction.
  • Monitor and publish Logistics/Transportation metrics and KPIs to achieve performance targets.
  • Identify and regulate transportation and logistics cost drivers.
  • Oversight of logistics operations relating to the transportation of inbound and outbound material needs.

Qualifications and Education:

  • 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing, production, or distribution environment
  • MBA or Master’s Degree: Supply Chain, Distribution, Manufacturing, Operations or Related Field Preferred
  • 7-10 years of experience in the Food, Agriculture, and/or Refrigerated Products Preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree: Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, Business, or related field.
  • 7-10 years of experience in the Transportation of perishable raw materials and finished products.
  • Expertise in Logistics and Transportation procedures, protocols, and best practices

  • Experience with supply chain software (i.e., TMS, WMS, and ERP systems).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a detailed understanding of logistics cost drivers
