Job Description
Director of HCP Marketing & Patient Education

POSITION SUMMARY

Oversee marketing and educational initiatives for healthcare professionals and patients, including developing strategic marketing initiatives and annual marketing plans, along with providing expertise in marketing and communications. Establish strong relationships with healthcare professionals, patients, and key stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and engagement to achieve business objectives. Provide leadership across the Marketing functions, including customer and sales insight, KOL engagement, and competitive dynamics.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with internal stakeholders, including Sales, Marketing, R&D, Upstream Marketing, Market Access, etc. to align marketing strategies with overall business objectives. Collaborate with external partners, agencies, and key opinion leaders to drive successful marketing initiatives. Collect feedback from internal and external stakeholders to refine launch strategies and enhance future launch effectiveness.
  • HCP Marketing: Develop and execute marketing campaigns and initiatives targeted at healthcare professionals, including physicians, advanced practice providers (APPs), facilities and other key decision-makers. Create compelling messaging, programs and promotional efforts that effectively communicate the value and benefits of our products. Identify opportunities for thought leadership, education, and engagement with HCPs and methods to establish and maintain mindshare. Evaluate the success of all product launch efforts and identify areas for improvement. Establish and monitor key performance indicators for all marketing programs, to monitor ROI and ensure successful execution of the tactical marketing plan.
  • Stay updated on industry developments and changes in healthcare policies and regulations that may impact our marketing strategies.
  • Support compliance with the company quality standards, FDA regulations and guidance, applicable EU Medical Device directives, applicable ISO standards, and other pertinent country specific medical regulatory requirements.
  • Sales Process and Tools: Support sales team by creating tools or programs that help educate customers, optimize practice routines, attract new patients, ID existing patients, and raise awareness/interest from potential patients. Collaborate with sales leadership and sales advisory council to develop and launch.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify market trends, customer needs, and opportunities for growth.
  • Sales Training Support: Partner with sales training team to support execution and materials related to new and advanced sales training.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead and manage a team of marketing professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and support. Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment. Develop talent within the team and identify opportunities for professional growth.
  • Patient Education: Develop and execute patient education programs and materials to raise awareness and understanding of diseases and Vertos’ products as a solution. Collaborate with stakeholders, including HCPs and regulatory, to optimize and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines. Create patient-centric messaging and materials that empower patients to make informed decisions about their healthcare.
  • Develop and manage budget for areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain and increase professional and technical knowledge by on-the-job training, attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Focus on operational excellence within marketing team to drive process efficiencies relative to commercial execution.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Required
  • A minimum of ten years’ relevant business experience including five years’ marketing experience in healthcare marketing with demonstrated success building market share.
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field (marketing, business, healthcare, etc.).
Bonus
  • Experience launching/managing new medical devices in the pain management, spinal surgery, or related specialties.
  • Experience in start-up environment.
  • Master’s degree in marketing or relevant field.
  • Experience managing people.

  • Tech savvy: advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, particularly MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint, and in mobile/cloud resources including CRM software (preferably Salesforce); comfortable learning new technical systems as needed (e.g., Box, Zoom, Slack, Monday.com).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Travel (Distributed Workforce) – Approximately 20% of time will be spent traveling for team meetings, conferences, or meetings.
  • Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, needles, and sharps, and radiation (from x-ray / fluoroscopy and similar medical equipment).

  • Mental Demand – Moderate to high degree of concentration due to volume, complexity, and/or “pressure” of work. Ability to make critical thinking skills decisions under pressure.
  • Physical Demand – While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time. Physical effort required by handling objects of 20 pounds or more occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus in relation to travel and operating a personal computer.
